Paraplegia following epidural analgesia [PDF]
A case of neurological damage associated with lumbar epidural block is presented. Muscle paralysis and sensory loss were found in the immediate postoperative period and there was partial recovery of muscle power. The possible mechanisms of nerve damage are discussed.

Abstract In a prospective study of 50 patients undergoing cholecystectomy epidural analgesia was found to be more effective than pethidine in achieving adequate postoperative analgesia. Pain was assessed using the visual linear analogue.
