ABSTRACT Background Melatonin may have several beneficial clinical effects in the perioperative setting. In children, it has been studied for preoperative anxiety, postoperative pain, and emergence delirium. Melatonin's pharmacokinetic profile is well‐known in adults, but data in young children are sparse.
