Description of unilateral kidney embolism and contralateral nephrectomy as a less invasive remnant kidney model in cats; a proof‐of‐concept study

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Unilateral, minimally invasive, renal arterial embolization and delayed contralateral nephrectomy was described in cats as a novel remnant kidney model of chronic kidney disease using two doses of embolic particles. Renal function declined and characteristic histopathological markers of kidney disease were present 6 months after the embolism procedure.

The efficacy of nitroglycerin to prevent radial artery spasm and occlusion during and after transradial catheterization: A systematic review and meta‐analysis of randomized controlled trials

open access: yesClinical Cardiology, Volume 45, Issue 12, Page 1171-1183, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Radial artery spasm (RAS) is the most common cause of transradial access site crossover and is a common intra‐procedural complication. RAS incidence can lead to radial artery occlusion (RAO) postprocedure, preventing the radial artery as a future access site.

Identification of bioactive compounds and molecular targets of Fuke Huahuang formulation to treat vaginitis

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Fuke Huahuang formulation (FHF) is used to treat vaginitis, and it exerts a promising anti‐inflammatory effect in clinical use. However, the detailed components and mechanisms of FHF for treating vaginitis remain unreported, and further preclinical evaluation is required to reveal its potential pharmacological activities against vaginitis.

Impact of different anesthetic protocols during anesthesia for the establishment of a porcine model of acute kidney injury

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
This study details the adaptations required to establish a long‐term anesthetic protocol in pigs. Three protocols were evaluated, with some causing malignant hyperthermia, hypoglycemia, or hemoynamic instability. The final protocol proved effective for developing a porcine AKI model requiring adequate arterial pressure maintenance.

Signs of Cortical Inflammation in Migraine Measured with Quantitative Magnetic Resonance Imaging: A Registry for Migraine (REFORM) Study

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objective The involvement of cortical inflammation in migraine, particularly migraine with aura, has been a subject of considerable interest, but has proved challenging to demonstrate. We aimed to detect and characterize signs of cortical inflammation in adults with migraine using a novel, multimodal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technique.

Clinical Relevance of Drug–Drug Interactions With Antibiotics as Listed in a National Medication Formulary: Results From Two Large Population‐Based Case‐Control Studies in Patients Aged 65–100 Years Using Linked English Primary Care and Hospital Data

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, Volume 113, Issue 2, Page 423-434, February 2023., 2023
This study evaluated drug–drug interactions (DDIs) between antibiotic and nonantibiotic drugs listed with warnings of severe outcomes in the British National Formulary based on adverse drug reaction (ADR) detectable with routine International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision coding.
