60 GHz Analog Radio-Over-Fiber Fronthaul Investigations

Journal of Lightwave Technology, 2017
Analog radio-over-fiber fronthaul links operating at millimeter-wave frequency band have the potential to offer high bandwidth and high data rate to cater for future 5G mobile communications. In this paper, we propose and investigate two schemes to generate 60.25 GHz millimeter-wave signals based on a variation of optical single sideband (OSSB) and ...

Analog Pre-Distortion Circuit for Radio Over Fiber Transmission

IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 2016
This letter presents a novel analog predistortion circuit based on two Schottky diodes that can suppress both the third- and fifth-order nonlinear distortions simultaneously. This circuit is simple, of low cost, and of low power consumption. The predistortion circuit is verified in two radio over fiber (RoF) transmission systems.

Analog laser predistortion for multiservice radio-over-fiber systems

Journal of Lightwave Technology, 2003
We have developed some low-cost predistortion circuits to compensate second- and third-order laser distortions in multiservice radio-over-fiber industrial systems. Depending on the predistorter configuration implemented, average reductions of 10-15 dB and of 8-10 dB have been observed in the laser second- and third-order distortions, respectively ...

Fronthaul links based on Analog Radio over Fiber [PDF]

open access: possible2019 European Conference on Networks and Communications (EuCNC), 2019
Current Information and Communication Technology systems are nowadays close to a ‘capacity crunch’ as global IP traffic increases. This problem will be particularly important in the Mobile Fronthaul. This scenario is driving the search for new multiplexing techniques that could solve short-term bandwidth problems and provide a good scalability in the ...
