Analysing clinical decision analyses

Statistics in Medicine, 1990
AbstractWe present a critical review of aspects of clinical decision analysis which uses an application to screening for familial intracranial aneurysms. The analysis is reported together with methods for assessing decision trees. These methods appear to be powerful checks on the usually rather intuitive way in which decision trees are built.

On Component Analyses

Psychometrika, 1985
Principal components analysis can be redefined in terms of the regression of observed variables upon component variables. Two criteria for the adequacy of a component representation in this context are developed and are shown to lead to different component solutions.

Herbrand analyses

Archive for Mathematical Logic, 1991
The Herbrand theorem shows that if an existential formula is provable, then so is a disjunction of substitution instances. The author first sharpens this condition to, for Herbrand theories, just one instance, and thus extracts a term t such that \(\phi\) (t) from a proof of \(\exists x\phi (x)\).

Liposomes in analyses

Talanta, 2006
The use of liposomes as analytical and bioanalytical reagents has been shown to be successful of in a variety of different applications that will be reviewed here. Due to their high surface area, large internal volume, and ability to conjugate bilayer lipids with a variety of biorecognition elements liposomes have been used in homogenous and ...

Spatial Analyses

2019
Many earth systems phenomena take place over a region continuously by time; hence, the variation is of the spatio-temporal type. The spatial evolvement of the events can be sampled generally at a set of irregular sites or particularly at regular mesh grid nodes as already explained in the previous chapter.

Discussion of the Analyses

The Canadian Journal of Statistics / La Revue Canadienne de Statistique, 2000
Thus, the objective was set as the determination of classification methods for vocalizations based on the seven variables provided. The problem is fundamentally multivariate, since the observation of interest, the seal call, is presented as a vector of variables summarizing characteristics of the call.

Meta-Analyses

2013
In this chapter results of a research synthesis and quantitative meta-analyses of three facets of time effects in education are presented, namely time at school during regular lesson hours, homework, and extended learning time. The number of studies for these three facets of time that could be used for a qualitative synthesis (so-called vote counting ...
