UDP‐glucuronic acid 4‐epimerase (UGAepi) catalyzes NAD+‐dependent interconversion of UDP‐glucuronic acid (UDP‐GlcA) and UDP‐galacturonic acid (UDP‐GalA) via C4‐oxidation, 4‐keto‐intermediate rotation, and C4‐reduction. Here, Borg et al. examined the role of the substrate's carboxylate group in the enzymic mechanism by analyzing NADH‐dependent reduction

Multi-frequency, multi-messenger astrophysics with Swift. The case of blazars [PDF]
During its first 10 years of orbital operations Swift dedicated approximately 11% of its observing time to blazars, carrying out more than 12,000 observations of ~1,600 different objects, for a total exposure time of over 25 million seconds.

Dimeric pyruvate formate‐lyase cleaves pyruvate using a radical‐based mechanism. G734 serves as a radical storage location, and the radical is transferred to the catalytic C419 residue. Mutation of the C418‐C419 pair causes loss of enzyme activity, but does not impede radical introduction onto G734. Therefore, cis‐ but not trans‐radical transfer occurs

Towards Sentinel-2 Analysis Ready Data: a Swiss Data Cube Perspective
Earth Observations Data Cubes (EODC) are a new paradigm revolutionizing the way users can interact with Earth Observations (EO) data. They can provide access to large spatio-temporal data in analysis ready format. Systematic and regular provision of Analysis Ready Data (ARD) can significantly reduce the burden on EO data users by minimizing the time ...

Most MmpLs transport lipids and glycolipids of the complex mycomembrane of mycobacteria. This study shows that MmpL10 from Mycobacterium smegmatis, the transporter of the trehalose polyphosphate precursor, harbors a coiled‐coil‐like extension. Biochemical and electron microscopy studies demonstrate that the coiled‐coil enables MmpL10 to trimerize.
