Effects of chronic browsing on life‐history traits of an irruptive large herbivore population

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
This study aimed to determine the relationship between diet quality, body mass, and size (hind foot length), and female reproduction and sought to identify the mechanism by which high density under severe food limitations is maintained. Our results demonstrated that sika deer introduced to Nakanoshima Island have maintained high densities through high ...

On real analytic orbifolds and Riemannian metrics

open access: yes, 2013
We begin by showing that every real analytic orbifold has a real analytic Riemannian metric. It follows that every reduced real analytic orbifold can be expressed as a quotient of a real analytic manifold by a real analytic almost free action of a ...

Disulfiram treatment suppresses antibody-producing reactions by inhibiting macrophage activation and B cell pyrimidine metabolism

open access: yesCommunications Biology
Antibody responses, involving B cells, CD4 + T cells, and macrophages, are implicated in autoimmune diseases and organ transplant rejection. We have previously shown that inhibiting FROUNT with disulfiram (DSF) suppresses macrophage activation and ...

CORRELATION OF MORPHEMIC AND SYLLABIC DIVISION IN THE RUSSIAN LANGUAGE

open access: yesRUDN Journal of Language Studies, Semiotics and Semantics, 2018
The statement about unity and entirety of language system, interdependency and interaction of different level language elements belongs to the circle of fundamental problems in language theory. There is a specific correlation between sounding and meaning.

The impact of the digital divide on synchronous online teaching in Kazakhstan during COVID-19 school closures

open access: yesFrontiers in Education, 2023
This paper examines how factors associated with the digital divide such as ICT access, digital skills, and outcomes influenced synchronous online teaching in urban and rural schools in Kazakhstan during COVID-19 school closures.

Combining transient dynamics and logistic‐asymptotic growth to study the recovery of two seabird populations after rat eradication

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
This study examines the demographic dynamics of two seabird populations on Tromelin Island, 15 years after the eradication of brown rats. The results indicate that these populations are in good health and are expected to continue growing until breeding sites are saturated in about a century.

Some results on certain subclasses of analytic functions involving generalized hypergeometric functions and Hadamard product

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 1992
By using a certain linear operator defined by a Hadamard product or convolution, several interesting subclasses of analytic functions in the unit disc are introduced and some unifying relationships between them are established.

The unpredictably eruptive dynamics of spruce budworm populations in eastern Canada

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
We examine historical population data for spruce budworm from several locations through the period 1930–1997, and use density‐dependent recruitment curves to test whether the pattern of population growth over time is more consistent with Royama's (1984; Ecological Monographs 54:429–462) linear R(t) model of harmonic oscillation at Green River New ...

Analytic and non-analytic proofs [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
In automated theorem Poving different kinds of proof systems have been used. Traditional proof systems, such as Hilbert-style proofs or natural deduction we call non-analytic, while resolution or mating proof systems we call analytic. There are many good reasons to study the connections between analytic and non-analytic proofs.
