Refining the NaV1.7 pharmacophore of a class of venom‐derived peptide inhibitors via a combination of in silico screening and rational engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Venom peptides have shown promise in treating pain. Our study uses computer screening to identify a peptide that targets a sodium channel (NaV1.7) linked to chronic pain. We produced the peptide in the laboratory and refined its design, advancing the search for innovative pain therapies.

Ergodic Transport Theory and Piecewise Analytic Subactions for Analytic Dynamics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We consider a piecewise analytic real expanding map $f: [0,1]\to [0,1]$ of degree $d$ which preserves orientation, and a real analytic positive potential $g: [0,1] \to \mathbb{R}$.

Toulmin’s “Analytic Arguments”

open access: yesInformal Logic, 2012
Toulmin’s formulation of “analytic arguments” in his 1958 book, The Uses of Argument, is opaque. Commentators have not adequately explicated this formulation, though Toulmin called it a “key” and “crucial” concept for his model of argument ...

The power of microRNA regulation—insights into immunity and metabolism

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
MicroRNAs are emerging as crucial regulators at the intersection of metabolism and immunity. This review examines how miRNAs coordinate glucose and lipid metabolism while simultaneously modulating T‐cell development and immune responses. Moreover, it highlights how cutting‐edge artificial intelligence applications can identify miRNA biomarkers ...

Analytic Torsion of Z_2-graded Elliptic Complexes

open access: yes, 2010
We define analytic torsion of Z_2-graded elliptic complexes as an element in the graded determinant line of the cohomology of the complex, generalizing most of the variants of Ray-Singer analytic torsion in the literature.

Identification of novel small molecule inhibitors of ETS transcription factors

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
ETS transcription factors play an essential role in tumourigenesis and are indispensable for sprouting angiogenesis, a hallmark of cancer, which fuels tumour expansion and dissemination. Thus, targeting ETS transcription factor function could represent an effective, multifaceted strategy to block tumour growth. The evolutionarily conserved E‐Twenty‐Six

Analytic vectors in continuous p-adic representations

open access: yes, 2012
Given a compact p-adic Lie group G over a finite unramified extension L/Q_p let G_0 be the product over all Galois conjugates of G. We construct an exact and faithful functor from admissible G-Banach space representations to admissible locally L-analytic

Microplastics in urban water management

open access: yesTechnical Transactions, 2017
The paper is discussing microplastics in the effluent of wastewater treatment plants and other discharges from urban areas. The aim of the discussion is to expose the challenges related to sampling and detecting plastic particles in treated wastewater ...

Applying speech technologies to assess verbal memory in patients with serious mental illness

open access: yesnpj Digital Medicine, 2020
Verbal memory deficits are some of the most profound neurocognitive deficits associated with schizophrenia and serious mental illness in general. As yet, their measurement in clinical settings is limited to traditional tests that allow for limited ...

The Saccharomyces cerevisiae amino acid transporter Lyp1 has a broad substrate spectrum

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Yeast Amino acid Transporter family members mediate the import of amino acids, ranging from substrate specialists to generalists. Here, we show that the specialist transporter, Lyp1, has a broader substrate spectrum than previously described, with affinity constants spanning from micromolar to millimolar.
