Analytic Equivalence of a Singular Set

American Journal of Mathematics, 1968
This paper originates from the work of H. Hironaka on the equivalence of singularities and the work of M. Gerstenhaber on the deformations of algebras. Hironaka ([6], [7]) shows, in short, that the formal completion along the singular locus of a point in an algebraic variety is entirely determined by a finite truncation, whereas M.

Every analytic set is Ramsey

The Journal of Symbolic Logic, 1970
If X is a set, [Χ]ω will denote the set of countably infinite subsets of X. ω is the set of natural numbers. If S is a subset of [ω]ω, we shall say that S is Ramsey if there is some infinite subset X of ω such that either [Χ]ω ⊆ S or [Χ]ω ∩ S = 0. Dana Scott (unpublished) has asked which sets, in terms of logical complexity, are Ramsey. The principal ...

ON A METRIC PROPERTY OF ANALYTIC SETS

Mathematics of the USSR-Izvestiya, 1976
Let be an algebraic set in containing the origin and let be the unit sphere.CONJECTURE. The diameter of one of the connected components of is greater than one.In this article it is shown that this is false if the requirement that be algebraic is weakened to the demand that the projections onto the coordinate planes be open.

REGULARITY OF THE BOUNDARIES OF ANALYTIC SETS

Mathematics of the USSR-Sbornik, 1983
In this article the author studies the boundary behavior of a one-dimensional complex analytic set A in a neighborhood of a totally real manifold M in Cn with smoothness greater than 1. He proves that the limit points of A on M form a set of locally finite length and that near almost every limit point the closure of A is either a manifold with boundary

A set-analytic approach to intersectionality

Social Science Research
In this paper, we propose a set-analytic approach to the study of intersectionality. Our approach builds on the intersectional view that combinations of attributes, such as black females, should be understood as qualitatively distinct states, not reducible to their component attributes.
