Light‐Triggered CRISPR/Cas12a for Genomic Editing and Tumor Regression

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Accepted Article.
A photo‐triggered CRISPR/Cas12a machinery for in vitro and in vivo gene editing is introduced. The system consists of a caged, inactive ortho‐nitrobenzyl phosphate ester photo‐responsive crRNA, which, upon light‐induced deprotection, yields the active CRISPR/Cas12a gene editing machinery (LAC12aGE).

Probing the Nonlinear Chiroptical Activity of Multi‐Turn Aromatic Helices Using Linearly Polarized Light

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Accepted Article.
Four quinoline‐based oligoamide foldamers of varying lengths, from 6 Å to 28 Å, were synthesized in both of their enantiomeric forms, exhibiting between 1.6 and 6 helical turns. The helically chiral structures were analyzed using hyper‐Rayleigh scattering (HRS) in solution to evaluate their chiroptical nonlinear activity in second‐harmonic generation ...

Synthesis of Molecular Organo‐f‐Element‐Polyphosphides with Non‐Classical Divalent Lanthanide Precursors

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Accepted Article.
The coordination and functionalization of white phosphorus (P4) by transition metal and main group element compounds has led to a great variety of polyphosphides. However, larger polyphosphides of the rare‐earth elements are elusive. In this study, we report the synthesis and full characterization of the largest polyphosphides of the f‐elements, [K(18 ...

Engineering of Transmembrane Alkane Monooxygenases to Improve a Key Reaction Step in the Synthesis of Polymer Precursor Tulipalin A

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Accepted Article.
The α‐methylene‐γ‐butyrolactone tulipalin A, a defense compound found in tulips, can polymerize via addition at the vinyl group or via ring‐opening polymerization, making it a highly promising monomer for bio‐based polymers. Since the biosynthesis of tulipalin A in plants remains elusive, we propose an alternative pathway for its synthesis starting ...
