Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) actuators must be continued to be heated generally to retain a shape of a smart structure deformed by the SMA actuators. To save the energy applying to the smart structure, a new control method was proposed utilizing the fact ...

Analytical solution of a model for complex food webs [PDF]
We investigate numerically and analytically a recently proposed model for food webs [Nature {\bf 404}, 180 (2000)] in the limit of large web sizes and sparse interaction matrices.

Analytical model for flux saturation in sediment transport
The transport of sediment by a fluid along the surface is responsible for dune formation, dust entrainment and for a rich diversity of patterns on the bottom of oceans, rivers, and planetary surfaces.

An energy-consistent depth-averaged Euler system: derivation and properties [PDF]
In this paper, we present an original derivation process of a non-hydrostatic shallow water-type model which aims at approximating the incompressible Euler and Navier-Stokes systems with free surface. The closure relations are obtained by aminimal energy

Principles of research of soil ped deformation at interaction with machine working element
Working elements of machines constantly or pulsewise interact with some of objects in raw materials with a difficult configuration (a root or tuber crops, vegetables, fruit, grain, soil peds) when performing technological operations in agricultural ...

A practical analytic model for daylight
Sunlight and skylight are rarely rendered correctly in computer graphics. A major reason for this is high computational expense. Another is that precise atmospheric data is rarely available. We present an inexpensive analytic model that approximates full spectrum daylight for various atmospheric conditions.

Analytical model tracing deformations in multistorey large timber panel building
This paper deals with the deformation characteristics of wood-framed residential, small commercial and hotel buildings with sheathing. Recent building structures are based on large panel or modular technology, where elements in the form of diaphragms or ...

Analytical solution of a generalized Penna model
In 1995 T.J.Penna introduced a simple model of biological aging. A modified Penna model has been demonstrated to exhibit behaviour of real-life systems including catastrophic senescence in salmon and a mortality plateau at advanced ages.

Analytical Study on the Breakdown Characteristics of Si-Substrated AlGaN/GaN HEMTs With Field Plates
The breakdown voltage model of Si-substrated AlGaN/GaN HEMTs with gate and drain field plates is proposed in this work. The silicon substrate and GaN buffer are considered as the depletion region in the modeling process.
