A framework to analyze affordances when using big data and analytics in organizations: a proposal / Proposta de framework para análise das affordances quando do uso de big data e analytics nas organizações

open access: yesRAM. Revista de Administração Mackenzie, 2019
Purpose: The article presents the development of a framework to analyze the use of big data and analytics in organizations. The framework is based on affordance theory and actor-network theory (ANT).

Linked dimers of the AAA+ ATPase Msp1 reveal energetic demands and mechanistic plasticity for substrate extraction from lipid bilayers

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells must clear mislocalized or faulty proteins from membranes to survive. The AAA+ ATPase Msp1 performs this task, but dissecting how its six subunits work together is challenging. We engineered linked dimers with varied numbers of functional subunits to reveal how Msp1 subunits cooperate and use energy to extract proteins from the lipid bilayer ...

Analytically heavy spaces: Analytic Cantor and Analytic Baire Theorems

open access: yesTopology and its Applications, 2011
AbstractMotivated by recent work, we establish the Baire Theorem in the broad context afforded by weak forms of completeness implied by analyticity and K-analyticity, thereby adding to the ‘Baire space recognition literature’ (cf. Aarts and Lutzer (1974) [1], Haworth and McCoy (1977) [43]).

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

CCT4 promotes tunneling nanotube formation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Tunneling nanotubes (TNTs) are membranous tunnel‐like structures that transport molecules and organelles between cells. They vary in thickness, and thick nanotubes often contain microtubules in addition to actin fibers. We found that cells expressing monomeric CCT4 generate many thick TNTs with tubulin.

Photosynthesis under far‐red light—evolutionary adaptations and bioengineering of light‐harvesting complexes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phototrophs evolved light‐harvesting systems adapted for efficient photon capture in habitats enriched in far‐red radiation. A subset of eukaryotic pigment‐binding proteins can absorb far‐red photons via low‐energy chlorophyll states known as red forms.
