International Journal of Information Retrieval Research, 2018
This article analyses the effect of anaphora resolution on information retrieval performance for systems with relevance ranking. It will be investigated if the Mean Average Precision of a retrieval system is improved after an intellectual replacement of all anaphors in a corpus with various texts.

Individual Differences in Anaphora Resolution
2023Individual Differences in Anaphora Resolution: Language and cognitive effects explores anaphora resolution from different perspectives, and investigates various aspects of the phenomenon, as contributions include research protocols that combine old and new experimental methodologies as well as theoretical and empirical approaches.

This chapter provides a theoretical background of anaphora and introduces the varieties of this pervasive linguistic phenomenon. Next, it defines the task of anaphora resolution and introduces it as a three-stage process: identification of anaphors, location of the candidates for antecedents, and the resolution algorithm.

Textual Entailment and anaphora resolution
2010 3rd International Conference on Advanced Computer Theory and Engineering(ICACTE), 2010Textual entailment has been recently defined as a common solution for modeling language variability in different NLP tasks. Textual Entailment is formally defined as a relationship between a coherent text T and a language expression, the hypothesis H. T is said to entail H (T → H) if the meaning of H can be inferred from the meaning of T. An entailment

Multilingual Anaphora Resolution
Machine Translation, 1999This paper presents a multilingual robust, knowledge-poor approach to resolving pronouns in technical manuals. This approach is a modification of the practical approach (Mitkov 1998a) and operates on texts pre-processed by a part-of-speech tagger. Input is checked against agreement and a number of antecedent indicators.

Anaphora resolution in ExtrAns
2003The true power of anaphora resolution algorithms can only be gauged when embedded into specific Natural Language Processing (NLP) applications. In this paper we report on the anaphora resolution module from ExtrAns, an answer extraction system. The anaphora resolution module is based on Lappin and Leass' original algorithm, which used McCord's Slot ...
