This study characterizes the bacteriome of Polygenis (Polygenis) bohlsi bohlsi fleas collected from free‐living Thrichomys fosteri in the Pantanal region of Brazil. The bacterial microbiota associated with male fleas exhibited greater phylogenetic diversity, and the overall community structure differed between the flea sexes.
