Freeze-drying of Anaplasma marginale.

open access: yesThe Onderstepoort journal of veterinary research, 1982
Heparinized whole blood, heavily parasitized with Anaplasma marginale, was collected from 3 splenectomized oxen. Buffered lactose peptone (BLP) was added to equal volumes as a stabilizer and the mixture lyophilized in 2 ml aliquots after rapid freezing. The dried material was reconstituted with 2 ml sterile water and inoculated without delay.

Comparative genomics of Anaplasma marginale

open access: yes, 2008
Anaplasma marginale is an obligate intraerythrocytic parasite of cattle, causing cyclic anemia, decreased milk and meat production, and occasionally death. Epidemiological persistence requires mechanical or biological transmission. Biological transmission via ixodid ticks is the most significant means of transmission, with Dermacentor andersoni being ...

Bovine strain of new anaplasma strain «Anaplasma Omsk» was isolated from cattle in West Sibiria. Anaplasmae were detected in bovine erythrocytes. Ultrastructure and morphology, genetic properties were cultivated in Vero cells lines with cumulation of ...

DNA probes for the detection of Anaplasma centrale and Anaplasma marginale.

open access: yesThe Onderstepoort journal of veterinary research, 1988
Anaplasmosis can be diagnosed either by immunological techniques or by direct microscopic examination of blood smears. Both methods are time-consuming and labour intensive. The use of DNA probes in an hybridization assay may simplify the diagnosis of anaplasmosis in cattle and sheep.

Serological evidence of anaplasma spp. in small ruminants from Venezuela using recombinant msp5 in immunoenzymatic assay

open access: yesRevista Científica, 2010
Anaplasma marginale causes a disease in cattle characterized by fever, anemia and decrease in milk and meat production. Small ruminants do not show signs of disease when infected, but it has been suggested they could act as reservoirs.

Factors associated with perceived Anaplasma marginale infection and clinical anaplasmosis cases on beef operations in California

open access: yesTicks and Tick-Borne Diseases
Bovine anaplasmosis is a tick-borne disease caused by Anaplasma marginale in the United States. The objective of this study was to use a survey tool to generate information for beef operations in California on anaplasmosis prevention and control ...

First report of Anaplasma marginale and Anaplasma ovis in goats in Kelantan, Malaysia

open access: yesTropical Biomedicine
Anaplasma species are obligate rickettsial intraerythrocytic pathogens that cause an important tick-borne disease of economic importance in livestock production in many countries. Anaplasma species have been detected from farm animals worldwide, there is a paucity of information on Anaplasma infections in goats from Malaysia.
