Recrudescence of Anaplasma marginale Induced by Immunosuppression with Cyclophosphamide

American Journal of Veterinary Research, 1981
SUMMARY Eight doses of cyclophosphamide (5 mg/kg), at 2-day intervals between doses, were administered iv to Anaplasma-carrier splenectomized calves. Significant decreases in serum immunoglobulins, diminished complement-fixing antibody response, and transitory leukopenia were associated with the treatment.

Identification of immunodominant polypeptides common between Anaplasma centrale and Anaplasma marginale

Veterinary Immunology and Immunopathology, 1991
High titered antibody from rabbits immunized with Anaplasma centrale or from cattle recovered from A. centrale infection bound predominantly to several 33-36 kDa polypeptides present in both A. centrale and the Israel-NT isolate of Anaplasma marginale. High titered bovine antibody against the Israel-NT isolate of A. marginale also reacted predominantly

Antigenic variation in Anaplasma marginale

Trends in Parasitology, 2001
Many parasitic organisms use antigenic variability to evade specific immune responses of the host. Antigenic diversity and genotypic differences between parasite clones, antigenic variation and phenotypic variation within a single clone are the most prominent mechanisms that have evolved during evolution.

Evaluation of the transmission of Anaplasma marginale by Amblyomma tonelliae

Veterinary Parasitology
This study aimed to evaluate A. marginale transstadial (TST) and transovarial transmission (TOT) by Amblyomma tonelliae through vector competence assays and analysis of natural infection in free-living ticks. This three-host tick species was chosen as model because it is a usual parasite of cattle in all their parasitic stages, making them potential ...
