Bovine Fetal Response to Anaplasma marginale
American Journal of Veterinary Research, 1971SUMMARY Blood contaning 70% erythrocytes infected with Anaplasma marginale was inoculated into a 100-day-old bovine fetus in utero. At 41 days after inoculation, the fetus was removed from the cow by cesarean section. The fetal serum reacted positively (4+) to the complement-fixation test.

American Journal of Veterinary Research, 1973SUMMARY Purified erythrocyte-free suspensions of Anaplasma marginale were stained by Gram's method, Giemsa stain, acridine orange (ao) stain, and fluorescent antibody (fa) stain. Anaplasma marginale was observed to be gram-negative. Morphologic characteristics that were not discernible by the other methods were not detected by Gram's method.
