Multifunctional Fluidic Units for Emergent, Responsive Robotic Behaviors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A multifunctional reconfigurable fluidic unit can be used as sensor, valve and actuator is presented. A unique configuration combines the features of the three components as a Responsive self‐oscillating actuator. The remarkable versatility of the fluidic unit is demonstrated by building different robots with the same fluidic units only by varying ...

Eutectozymes as Soft Hybrid Materials for Advanced Biocatalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Eutectozymes are sustainable hybrid materials that embed a GOx–HRP cascade within hydrophobic eutectogels featuring a dual supramolecular–covalent network. This architecture preserves native enzyme structure and stability, enables efficient heterogeneous biocatalysis in aqueous media, and positions eutectogels as robust platforms for next‐generation ...

Trends of some wintering waterbirds in Lazio (1993-2006)

open access: yesRivista Italiana di Ornitologia - Research in Ornithology, 2012
Since the 90s, censuses of wintering waterfowl have been carried out in the main wetlands of Lazio. We analysed the trends of 31 species in the 1993-2006 period (base year 1993) by means of TRIM (Trends and Indices Monitoring data) software (Model 3 ...

Two‐Photon 3D Printing of Functional Microstructures Inside Living Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates 3D printing inside living cells by using two‐photon photo‐lithography. A bio‐compatible photoresist is injected into cells and selectively polymerized with a femtosecond laser, creating custom‐shaped intracellular structures with submicron resolution.

Vanishing Cities: What Does the New Economic Geography Imply About the Efficiency of Urbanization? [PDF]

open access: yes
How should the size and number of cities evolve optimally as population grows? Stripped of the constraints of geography itself, the setup of the New Economic Geography implies that de-agglomeration (or de- urbanization) is efficient. The number of cities

The Generalized Degrees of Freedom of the Interference Relay Channel with Strong Interference [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The interference relay channel (IRC) under strong interference is considered. A high-signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) generalized degrees of freedom (GDoF) characterization of the capacity is obtained. To this end, a new GDoF upper bound is derived based on a

Understanding the Dynamics of Nanoparticle Formation and Evolution in Functional Oxides via In Situ SAXS/WAXS

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
In situ SAXS/WAXS enables real‐time tracking of nanoparticle formation and evolution in exsolved and infiltrated Ni‐based perovskites under reducing conditions. The combined technique captures nucleation, growth, and coarsening dynamics with high temporal resolution, providing statistically robust insights into structural and morphological ...
