An alternative linear stapling technique for performing Roux-en-Y anastomosis

The American Journal of Surgery, 2002
The use of stapling devices for performing gastrointestinal anastomosis has gained wide acceptance in the last decade. Linear cutting devices have been used routinely during gastrointestinal operations in our hospital since 1992. However, we still have shortage of stapling devices due to cost reduction politics. We propose a modification of the standard

Accurate endoscopic identification of the afferent limb at the Y anastomosis using the fold disruption sign after gastric resection with Roux‐en‐Y reconstruction

Digestive Endoscopy, 2021
In patients with Roux‐en‐Y (RY) reconstruction for gastric resection, the newly defined “fold disruption” (FD) sign can be useful to distinguish the afferent limb from the efferent limb at the Y anastomosis when balloon endoscopy‐assisted endoscopic ...

Transumbilical Laparoscopic Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass with Hand-Sewn Gastrojejunal Anastomosis

Obesity Surgery, 2012
Single-port laparoscopic surgery has undergone significant development over the past 5 years. Single port is used in various procedures, including bariatric surgery. The aim of this paper is to describe a surgical technique for gastric bypass with a transumbilical approach (transumbilical gastric bypass-TUGB) with hand-sewn gastrojejunostomy, in ...

Roundworm obstruction of the hepatic limb of a Roux-en-Y anastomosis

Pediatric Surgery International, 1998
A 7-year-old female with a type I choledochal cyst underwent an exploratory laparotomy. A Roux-en-Y choledochojejunostomy was done following cyst excision. The patient was re-explored 8 days later for an anastomotic bile leak and high fever. A round-worm was found obstructing the jejunal lumen at the porta hepatis, resulting in a biliary leak.

ERCP using double-balloon endoscopes in patients with Roux-en-Y anastomosis

Journal of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery, 2009
Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and associated procedures are difficult to perform in patients with a Roux-en-Y reconstruction. Therefore, at present, at many institutions, ERCP is not generally performed for those with a Roux-en-Y anastomosis. However, double-balloon endoscopes (DBEs) have dramatically changed this situation. The ...

ERCP with the double balloon enteroscope in patients with Roux-en-Y anastomosis

Surgical Endoscopy, 2008
Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is technically more challenging in patients with postsurgical anatomy. We assessed the technical success of performing ERCP with the double balloon enteroscope (DBE) in patients with Roux-en-Y anastomosis. This is a prospective evaluation of patients with Roux-en-Y anastomosis who underwent ERCP with
