Anastomosis

World Journal of Surgery, 1994
AbstractEsophageal anastomosis is still associated with a high rate of complications even though they have decreased considerably in recent years. Anastomotic leaks are more frequent in the neck than in the chest, and related mortality rate is not different.

Intestinal anastomosis with the biofragmentable anastomosis ring

The American Journal of Surgery, 1998
The fear of anastomotic complications prevents the spread of the use of the biofragmentable anastomosis ring (BAR) in intestinal surgery.A total of 453 patients underwent intestinal resection and anastomosis with the BAR.In all, 514 anastomoses have been carried out, 424 (83%) in elective settings, and 90 (18%) in emergency.

Hammock Anastomosis: A Nonrefluxing Ureteroileal Anastomosis

Journal of Urology, 1988
During a 9-year period diversion was performed in 48 patients by an antireflux ureteroileal anastomosis. Followup was possible in 30 patients (57 renal units). Among these 57 ureteroileal anastomoses only 3 cases of stenosis (6 per cent) and 11 cases of reflux (less than 20 per cent) were observed.

The Terminolateral Anastomosis

Archives of Surgery, 1958
Various types of bowel anastomosis have been described and used with satisfaction for many years. The end-to-end anastomosis is probably the most popular, but it has two distinct disadvantages. When the bowel lumen is small, it may be significantly narrowed by the diaphragm which is turned in (Fig. 1 A ).

Sutureless anastomosis using a biofragmentable anastomosis ring

Surgery Today, 1995
The biofragmentable anastomosis ring (BAR) is composed of polyglycolic acid and barium sulfate. When used for intestinal anastomosis, the BAR fragments after the anastomosis is established. We used this device in 43 patients. In three patients, the anastomosis with BAR was abandoned due to technical difficulties. A total of 43 anastomoses with BAR were
