Miniaturized Devices for On‐the‐Spot Generation of Small‐Diameter Vascular Grafts
An intracorporeal extrusion device is developed for on‐the‐spot generation of vascular grafts with tunable diameters spanning from 1 to 6 mm. The device uses biomimetic polymers and light, to promptly obtaining biocompatible and high‐burst pressure‐resistant grafts.

Safety of subtotal or total colectomy with primary anastomosis compared to Hartmann procedure for left-sided colon cancer obstruction or perforation [PDF]
Purpose Whether subtotal or total colectomy with primary anastomosis (PA) is safer than Hartmann procedure (HP) for left-sided colon cancer obstruction or perforation remains controversial. The purpose of this study was to compare postoperative morbidity,

An optimization based 3D-1D coupling strategy for tissue perfusion and chemical transport during tumor-induced angiogenesis [PDF]
A new mathematical model and numerical approach are proposed for the simulation of fluid and chemical exchanges between a growing capillary network and the surrounding tissue, in the context of tumor-induced angiogenesis. Thanks to proper modeling assumptions the capillaries are reduced to their centerline: a well posed mathematical model is hence ...

This retrospective study investigated risk factors for surgical site infections (SSIs) in right‐sided colon cancer surgeries using intracorporeal anastomosis (IA). The results demonstrated that preoperative oral antibiotics (OA) significantly reduced SSI rates, with OA identified as an independent protective factor, suggesting its beneficial role in ...

Fallopian tube anatomy predicts pregnancy and pregnancy outcomes after tubal reversal surgery [PDF]
We conducted this study to determine whether fallopian tube anatomy can predict the likelihood of pregnancy and pregnancy outcomes after tubal sterilization reversal. We built a flexible, non-parametric, multivariate model via generalized additive models to assess the effects of the following tubal parameters observed during tubal reparative surgery ...

Several studies have reported that modified Collard anastomosis is useful for cervical anastomosis after esophagectomy for thoracic esophageal cancer. However, no large‐scale study has confirmed the efficacy of the modified Collard anastomosis.

Learning-Based Keypoint Registration for Fetoscopic Mosaicking [PDF]
In Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome (TTTS), abnormal vascular anastomoses in the monochorionic placenta can produce uneven blood flow between the two fetuses. In the current practice, TTTS is treated surgically by closing abnormal anastomoses using laser ablation. This surgery is minimally invasive and relies on fetoscopy.
