Photoelectrochemical Hydrogen Peroxide Production via Simultaneous Reduction and Oxidation Processes
Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is an important chemical substance and also a promising carbon‐free clean fuel. The design of a sophisticated photoelectrochemical (PEC) reaction system enables the solar‐driven H2O2 production through simultaneous water oxidation and oxygen reduction processes (H2O2/H2O2‐PEC cells).

A strategy for the Pt/TiO2‐photocatalyzed β‐scission of nonactivated 3° alcohols in the absence of external oxidants and additives was developed. A wide variety of C‐centered radicals were generated and subsequently engaged in C─C bond‐forming reactions.

A Deeper Insight on the Stability of Water-Induced Reconstruction of Anatase (001) Surface
TiO 2 anatase (001) surface has been indicated for many years as a potential system for water dissociation and hydrogen production. Surface reconstruction periodicity of TiO 2 anatase (001) in water is revised on the basis of the new ...

On the Reaction Mechanism of Nitrate Radical and DMPO in Non‐aqueous Photocatalytic Media
This work identifies 2‐oxo‐5,5‐dimethyl‐1‐pyrroline 1‐oxyl (DMPOX), formed via the selective oxidation of 5,5‐dimethyl‐1‐pyrroline N‐oxide (DMPO) by nitrate radicals (NO3•) in nonaqueous media, as a distinctive EPR fingerprint of NO3•. The DFT‐supported mechanism clarifies its formation pathway and highlights DMPOX detection as a robust tool for ...

Synthesis of Group IVB Metals Oxicarbides by Carboreduction Reactions
The metals of the group IV B (Ti, Zr, Hf) present a series of carbides and oxicarbides with scientific and technological interest. Many of these compounds belong to the subsystem "MO - MC" of the pseudoternary "MO - MN - MC" system (where M = Ti, Zr or ...

[Ti(py)4I2] as an Entry Point to Titanium(II) Chemistry via Titanium Metal Oxidation
A strategically novel approach based on the oxidation of Ti metal enables access to Ti(II) chemistry. Controlled formation and complexation of Ti diiodide affords the Ti(II) complex [Ti(py)4I2], which serves as a convenient entry point to Ti(II) compounds.
