Experimental Constraints on Himalayan Anatexis [PDF]
We have melted metapelitic rocks from the High Himalayan Crystalline Sequence that are likely sources of leucogranite magmas. Starting materials were a muscovite schist and a tourmaline-bearing muscovite–biotite schist. Both are kyanite-zone rocks from the hanging wall of the Main Central Thrust.

Primary crustal melt compositions: Insights into the controls, mechanisms and timing of generation from kinetics experiments and melt inclusions [PDF]
We explore the controls, mechanisms and timing of generation of primary melts and their compositions, and show that the novel studies of melt inclusions in migmatites can provide important insights into the processes of crustal anatexis of a particular ...

Trace element and isotope constraints on crustal anatexis by upwelling mantle melts in the North Atlantic Igneous Province: an example form the Isle of Rum, NW Scotland [PDF]
Sr and Nd isotope ratios, together with lithophile trace elements, have been measured in a representative set of igneous rocks and Lewisian gneisses from the Isle of Rum in order to unravel the petrogenesis of the felsic rocks that erupted in the early ...

Three-dimensional distribution of primary melt inclusions in garnets by X-ray microtomography [PDF]
open6X-ray computed microtomography (X-mu CT) is applied here to investigate in a non-invasive way the three-dimensional (3D) spatial distribution of primary melt and fluid inclusions in gamets from the metapeitic enclaves of El Hoyazo and from the ...

A reactive assimilation model for regional-scale cordierite-bearing granitoids: geochemical evidence from the Late Variscan granites of the Central Iberian Zone, Spain [PDF]
Regional scale biotite and cordierite-bearing granites (s.l.) in the Variscan of the Central Iberian Zone (CIZ) are spatially closely associated with cordierite-rich nebulites and cordierite-bearing two-mica granites, and with cordierite-rich high grade ...

Rifting and arc-related early Paleozoic volcanism along the North Gondwana margin: geochemical and geological evidence from Sardinia (Italy) [PDF]
Three series of volcanic rocks accumulated during the Cambrian to Silurian in the metasediment-dominated Variscan basement of Sardinia. They provide a record of the changing geodynamic setting of the North Gondwana margin between Upper Cambrian and ...

The Lomagundi-Jatuli carbon isotopic event recorded in the marble of the Tandilia System basement, Río de la Plata Craton, Argentina [PDF]
The “Lomagundi-Jatuli event” corresponds to the most important δ13C positive anomaly (≥5‰) globally reported in Palaeoproterozoic marine carbonates (between ∼2.30 and 2.06 Ga).

Procesos anatécticos (LP-HT) y heterogeneidad litológica en el Complejo Migmatítico de Mindelo (NW Portugal) [PDF]
The Mindelo Migmatitic Complex crops out in the coastal zone north of Porto (Portugal) and consists of a set of migmatitic and granitic lithologies. Field relationships, petrography, geochemistry and isotopic signature of the various lithologies allow ...

Deep crustal anatexis, magma mixing, and the generation of epizonal plutons in the Southern Rocky Mountains, Colorado [PDF]
The Never Summer Mountains in north-central Colorado, USA, are cored by two Oligocene, epizonal granitic plutons originally emplaced in the shallow levels of a short-lived (~1 m.y.), small-volume continental magmatic system. The younger Mt. Cumulus stock

On the Initiation of Metamorphic Sulfide Anatexis [PDF]
Mineral assemblages in common sulfide ore deposits are examined together with phase relations to (1) investigate the pressure^ temperature conditions required for the onset of metamorphically induced partial melting involving economic minerals, and (2) place constraints on the amount of melt produced.
