An anatomical model for streaming potentials in osteons

Journal of Biomechanics, 1984
An anatomical model for streaming potentials in osteons is developed to characterize the electromechanical effect in bone. The model accounts for the microstructure of the osteon and is based upon first principles of electrochemistry, electrokinetics, continuum mechanics and fluid dynamics.

Modeling anatomical-based humans

Third International Conference on Image and Graphics (ICIG'04), 2005
We present two complementary methodologies to automatically generate 3D surfaces of human bodies including internal bones. The first methodology is a data-driven approach and uses a database of human bodies in conjunction with a learning model synthesizer to create 3D surfaces subject to desired shape and size. In the second methodology, we use medical

Modeling anatomical heterogeneity in populations

2011 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2011
Our goal is to model anatomical variability across individuals, which presents substantial challenges in clinical population studies and in building atlases for segmentation. Based on a mixture model for a population, we derive an efficient algorithm that clusters a set of images while co-registering them into a common coordinate frame.

Computerized Anatomical Model Man [PDF]

open access: possible, 1970
Abstract : The Computerized Anatomical Model Man is a detailed representation of the radiation transport properties of the human body. It is to be used for computation of the areal density distribution at specified locations in the body. This information is applicable to dose calculations in natural, weapon, reactor, and other radiation environments ...

Anatomical modeling with computer-aided design

Computers and Biomedical Research, 1986
Many industrial computer aided design (CAD) programs contain highly developed facilities that can be used to create and analyze three dimensional models of biological structures. In this paper we describe the use of one such program package for modeling the rat brain and a component thereof.

Anatomical model of the cochlea of the alligator lizard

Hearing Research, 1990
The three-dimensional structure of the cochlea of the alligator lizard was examined and an anatomical model was constructed. Separate pieces of the model represent the cochlear duct and posterior branch of the eighth cranial nerve. These pieces fit together inside a transparent plastic piece that represents the bony capsule.

Anatomic modeling of deformable human bodies

The Visual Computer, 2000
We propose a method to simulate human bodies based on anatomy concepts. We believe that the closer our model is to reality, the better our results will be. Using this approach, we are developing our human representation. Our model is divided into three layers and presented in three steps: the concept of a rigid body from a real skeleton, the muscle ...

Anatomical Accuracy in Medical 3D Modeling

2001
In complex surgery, medical modeling has become an accepted tool for diagnosis, simulation and the planning of surgical interventions [1]. However, the question concerning the accuracy of the model, i.e. the equivalence between the model itself on the one hand and the original anatomical situation on the other hand, remains unanswererd in the current ...

3D Anatomical Modelling of the Atria

2013
Regional heterogeneity is thought to be an important property in the high prevalence of atrial arrhythmias, such as AF and AT. Similarly, many arrhythmias and diseases result from dysfunction or abnormal function of the SAN or the AVN. Currently, the 3D human atrial anatomical model and other previous models of the atria only account for a small ...

Anatomically Accurate Individual Face Modeling

2003
This paper presents a new 3D face model of a specific person constructed from the anatomical perspective. By exploiting the laser range data, a 3D facial mesh precisely representing the skin geometry is reconstructed. Based on the geometric facial mesh, we develop a deformable multi-layer skin model.
