Coupled Above‐ and Belowground Ecosystem Stability Worldwide
Are the worlds above and below our feet in sync? This global exploration reveals an entangled fate between above‐ and belowground ecosystem stability. It identifies arid regions as hotspots for this coupling and highlights temperature stability as a vital safeguard for maintaining ecosystem balance across our warming planet.

"The Milk of Birds": A Proverbial Phrase, Ancient and Modern, and its Link to Nature [PDF]
A curious phrase from ancient Greek, ὀρνίθων γάλα, finds parallels in Latin as lac gallinaceum and in Modern Greek, as και του πουλιού το γάλα. While the Greek phrases translate as "(and) the milk of (the) bird(s)", the Latin translates as "henʼs milk".

ABSTRACT The muscle capsule of Trichinella is a critical structure that impedes immune attacks and drug penetration, yet the molecular mechanisms underlying its formation remain poorly understood. Using a high‐quality super‐pangenome comprising 12 Trichinella species, we compared extensive genomic variations between encapsulating and non‐encapsulating ...

The past decade has witnessed a revolution in ancient DNA (aDNA) research. Although the field's focus was previously limited to mitochondrial DNA and a few nuclear markers, whole genome sequences from the deep past can now be retrieved. This breakthrough is tightly connected to the massive sequence throughput of next generation sequencing platforms and

The authors complement bovine pan‐SV with massive novel structural variations (SVs) identified through long‐read sequencing of 83 globally distributed cattle breeds. Repetitive sequence‐mediated SVs (rep‐SV) exhibit distinct dynamic patterns throughout cattle sub‐speciation and/or domestication processes, including uneven distribution between chr‐X and

Association of the L‐cluster with the nitrogenase assembly proteins NifEN (NifENL) or NifB (NifBL) intrinsically endows these proteins with N2‐reducing activity, enabling in vitro N2‐reduction by NifENL and NifBL when supplied with chemical reductants or photoexcited quantum dots while supporting in vivo N2‐fixation in NifENL‐ and NifENL‐expressing ...

Determination of linkage disequilibrium region suggests association of the ancient haplotype, hX with neural function [PDF]
Modern human populations are known to contain "ancient haplotypes" that originated from archaic humans by hybridization. Some of them had been reported before the development of human genomic diversity databases, such as HapMap. Consequently,
