Application of the biomization technique in the Eastern Colombian Andes
Two pollen records (Lake Fuquene and Pantano de Martos) are analyzed in order to test the usefulness of the Biomization technique to management on forest adaptation to climate change. This work focuses on Biomes and Plant Functional Types response to

We present a compatible finite‐element discretisation of a general formulation of moist shallow‐water equations, with the aim of providing a simple model to advance understanding of physics–dynamics coupling. We detail set‐ups and show three moist shallow‐water test cases in four different model formulations. The results demonstrate differences between

The dual graph neural network (dualGNN), trained with a composite loss combining the energy score (ES) and variogram score (VS), consistently outperformed models optimized solely for ES or the continuous ranked probability score in the multivariate setting, as well as empirical copula approaches.

Deep Reinforcement Learning‐Based Control for Real‐Time Hybrid Simulation of Civil Structures
ABSTRACT Real‐time Hybrid Simulation (RTHS) is a cyber‐physical technique that studies the dynamic behavior of a system by combining physical and numerical components that are coupled through a boundary condition enforcer. In structural engineering, the numerical components are subjected to environmental loads that become dynamic displacements of the ...

Accelerating Glacier Area Loss Across the Andes Since the Little Ice Age
Andean glaciers are losing mass rapidly but a centennial‐scale context to those rates is lacking. Here we show the extent of >5,500 glaciers during the Little Ice Age chronozone (LIA; c. 1,400 to c.

Canopy laser scanning (CLS) enhances 3D measurements of large trees by lifting laser scanners into the canopy. Combining CLS with terrestrial laser scanning improves point cloud precision, reduces occlusion and enables detailed assessments of tree architecture and canopy biodiversity, opening new opportunities for forest ecology.
