We show that the Newman-Janis shift property of the exact Kerr solution can be interpreted in terms of a worldsheet effective action. This holds both in gravity, and for the single-copy Kerr $$ \sqrt{\mathrm{Kerr}} $$ solution in electrodynamics.

Negative anomalous dimensions in N=4 SYM
We elucidate aspects of the one-loop anomalous dimension of so(6)-singlet multi-trace operators in N=4SU(Nc) SYM at finite Nc. First, we study how 1/Nc corrections lift the large Nc degeneracy of the spectrum, which we call the operator submixing problem.

Entropy Estimation Using a Linguistic Zipf–Mandelbrot–Li Model for Natural Sequences
Entropy estimation faces numerous challenges when applied to various real-world problems. Our interest is in divergence and entropy estimation algorithms which are capable of rapid estimation for natural sequence data such as human and synthetic ...

This research paper investigates the efficacy of leading machine learning (ML) models for detecting and identifying ungulate species in African savanna using nadir imagery from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Traditional aerial counting methods, while widely used, suffer from significant limitations in accuracy and precision, in part due to human ...

An Information Theoretic Approach to Symbolic Learning in Synthetic Languages
An important aspect of using entropy-based models and proposed “synthetic languages”, is the seemingly simple task of knowing how to identify the probabilistic symbols.

Partitioned Desires: Female Agency and Interfaith Relationships Around the Partition of India
ABSTRACT Through an examination of the phenomenon of abduction, I suggest that the preoccupation with women's violation during the 1947 Partition of India has obfuscated a history of female desire. Considering accusations of kidnapping made by women's families against men belonging to a different religion in instances of interfaith desire, I ...

Topological defects in a deformed gauge theory
In this paper, we will analyse the topological defects in a deformation of a non-abelian gauge theory using the Polyakov variables. The gauge theory will be deformed by the existence of a minimum measurable length scale in the background spacetime.

Estimating Sentence-like Structure in Synthetic Languages Using Information Topology
Estimating sentence-like units and sentence boundaries in human language is an important task in the context of natural language understanding. While this topic has been considered using a range of techniques, including rule-based approaches and ...
