Sound absorption coefficient measurement and correction of acoustic coating based on impedance experiment

open access: yesZhongguo Jianchuan Yanjiu
ObjectiveAs specific and demanding requirements are imposed by measuring the impedance of the anechoic coatings on the hull surface of an underwater vehicle using the traditional water-filled tube experiment, a method of sound absorption coefficient ...

Pyometra in an African wild dog (Lycaon pictus)

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 3, August 2026.
Abstract Reports of pyometra in wild canids such as African wild dogs remain scarce. Management of pyometra in geriatric individuals with concurrent anaemia presents a distinctive clinical challenge. A 16.1 kg rescued geriatric female African wild dog (Lycaon pictus) presented to Greens Zoological Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre, Jamnagar, with ...

Sound absorption performance of underwater anechoic coating in plane wave normal incidence condition [PDF]

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2019
On account of the theory of non-uniform waveguide and the wave propagation theory in layered media, a complete theoretical model is established for predicting the sound absorption performance of multi-layer underwater composite anechoic coating. Furthermore, the correctness of the theoretical calculation is verified by the finite-element simulation ...

An Active Beam‐Reconfigurable Retrodirective Array

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 13, 13 July 2026.
The proposed beam‐reconfigurable retrodirective array not only enables retroreflection toward the signal source but also achieves flexible beam steering via a tunable reflection plate, offering a viable solution for real‐time multipoint communication and multitarget wireless power transfer.

Partial hearing recovery after cochlear nerve surface transplantation of hair follicle‐derived neural crest stem cells in neural hearing loss rat

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, Volume 9, Issue 7, Page 1454-1468, July 2026.
This study comprises three experimental parts. Part 1. Time‐course of ouabain‐induced hearing loss. Rats received ouabain (10 mM) via round window application. ABR/DPOAE tests and histological analyses were performed at 2, 7, and 30 days post‐treatment to characterize SGN and glial cell degeneration. Part 2.

Stretch Tunable Active Frequency Selective Fabric for Dynamically Switchable Bandstop and Transparency

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, Volume 9, Issue 4, July 2026.
This stretchable active frequency selective fabric achieves reversible switching between bandstop and transparent states through strain‐induced reconfiguration of its conductive network. Its zero‐power and mechanically tunable characteristics offer potential for wearable electromagnetic functional materials.

Towards an active semi-anechoic room: simulations and first measurements

open access: yesActa Acustica
Semi-anechoic rooms are used for the acoustic characterisation of noise sources. They involve heavy infrastructures and thick absorbent lining. The aim of this work is to demonstrate a less expensive alternative by complementing a thin passive coating ...

Monolithic Opto‐Acoustic Synesthetic Transduction of Color and Sound in a Single Chiral Liquid Crystal Elastomer

open access: yesSmall, Volume 22, Issue 42, 27 July 2026.
Monolithic cholesteric liquid crystal elastomers simultaneously generate color and sound under electrically programmed stimuli. Low‐frequency electric fields modulate the helical pitch to produce tunable structural colors, while high‐frequency excitation induces membrane vibration for acoustic emission.
