Pre‐admission beta‐blocker therapy and outcomes in cardiogenic shock: Insights from the Altshock‐2 Registry

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 4, Page 2565-2577, August 2025.
Among 668 with cardiogenic shock included in the multicentre prospective Altshock‐2 registry, 299 patients (44.8%) received pre‐admission beta‐blocker therapy. Previous beta‐blocker therapy influenced the early hemodynamic response to vasoactive drugs, but it was not associated with in‐hospital mortality.

Advancing Open‐Access Education for the Surgical Team Worldwide: The Development and Rollout of the United Nations Global Surgery Learning Hub (SURGhub)

open access: yesWorld Journal of Surgery, Volume 49, Issue 7, Page 1700-1707, July 2025.
Training and professional development programmes for surgeons, anaesthetists, obstetricians and perioperative nurses in low‐resource settings are often constrained by lack of access to appropriate training materials. The United Nations Global Surgery Learning Hub (SURGhub) was launched on 28th June 2023 to address this need. SURGhub has enrolled 11,451

Simulation‐Based Echocardiography Training Enhanced Competence and Self‐Confidence in Neonatal Residents

open access: yesActa Paediatrica, Volume 114, Issue 7, Page 1623-1632, July 2025.
ABSTRACT Aim Mastering echocardiography scans is essential in neonatology, but bedside training can be difficult due to the instability of neonatal patients. The aim of this study was to demonstrate the benefits of simulation‐based training for residents learning echocardiography.

A survey of the allocation of scarce resources in Türkiye during the COVID‐19 pandemic: Which criteria did healthcare professionals prioritize?

open access: yesDeveloping World Bioethics, Volume 25, Issue 2, Page 86-97, June 2025.
Abstract COVID‐19 caused an imbalance between medical resources and the number of patients in Türkiye like in many countries. There was not pandemic‐triage system, and this situation led to decision making based on experience, intuition, and judgment of allocation of scarce resources.

Prognostic Value of Cerebral Hemodynamics Assessment on 24‐h Transcranial Color‐Coded Doppler Following a Successful Thrombectomy

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neurology, Volume 32, Issue 6, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims This study evaluates the distribution and prognostic role of transcranial color‐coded Doppler (TCCD) spectral patterns following a successful endovascular thrombectomy (EVT). Methods This multicenter prospective study included patients with internal carotid or middle cerebral artery (MCA) occlusion treated in the early time

Particularidades da anestesia em felinos

open access: yes, 2021
Anesthetic complications appear relatively rare, though recent work suggests they are more common in cats than dogs. The anesthetic particularities observed in felines may be directly related to the higher rates of complications observed in these animals.

Continuous deep sedation versus minimal sedation after cardiac arrest and resuscitation (SED‐CARE): A protocol for a randomized clinical trial

open access: yesActa Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica, Volume 69, Issue 5, May 2025.
Abstract Background Sedation is often provided to resuscitated out‐of‐hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) patients to tolerate post‐cardiac arrest care, including temperature management. However, the evidence of benefit or harm from routinely administered deep sedation after cardiac arrest is limited.
