Agreement between cardiac cycle time intervals and myocardial velocities measured by automated analysis of color tissue Doppler cine loops and by manual tracing of spectral pulsed‐wave tissue Doppler waveforms of sheep fetal heart under normal and pathological conditions: An experimental study

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, EarlyView.
Automated cTDI in sheep fetuses provided reproducible measurements of myocardial velocities and heart rate that align well with manual pulsed‐wave TDI. For cardiac cycle duration metrics, the two modalities are not interchangeable. These findings support that automated cTDI is well suited for longitudinal assessment under both physiological and ...

Maternal deaths in the UK before and during the COVID‐19 pandemic

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, EarlyView.
During the COVID‐19 pandemic, there was a significant increase in the rate of maternal mortality, particularly from direct causes of death. This was accompanied by a greater prevalence of mental health and social complexities amongst the women who died, underscoring the importance of maintaining equitable care access during future crises.

Delivery mode and maternal health conditions before and after childbirth: A population‐based cohort study from Estonia

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, EarlyView.
Cesarean section is associated with higher rates of chronic health conditions and pregnancy‐related complications, whereas vaginal delivery is more commonly linked to pelvic floor and perineal complications. These findings emphasize the need for individualized decision‐making and thorough counseling about the risks and benefits of each delivery method.

“A Total Paradigm Shift”: Interviews With Australian Maternity Care Providers Who Practice Weight‐Inclusive Care

open access: yesBirth, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Weight stigma is pervasive in maternity care, contributing to negative health outcomes and disengagement among larger‐bodied women. To reduce weight stigma and promote respectful, individualized care, a weight‐inclusive approach prioritizes overall well‐being rather than focusing on weight as a key health indicator.

Hypertensive Disorders in Pregnancy: A Comparative Analysis of Clinical Guidelines Across Six High‐Income Countries

open access: yesBirth, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Women in the United States (U.S.) experience higher maternal morbidity and mortality than other high‐income countries, with hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP) among the most common, preventable contributors. Despite evidence supporting pharmacologic intervention, American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG ...
