Extending Inferences from Randomized Clinical Trials to Target Populations: A Scoping Review of Transportability Methods [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Objective: Randomized controlled trial (RCT) results often inform clinical decision-making, but the highly curated populations of trials and the care provided during the trial are often not reflective of real-world practice. The objective of this scoping review is to identify the ability of methods to transport findings from RCTs to target populations.

Ultrasound Neuromodulation (Low‐Intensity Focused Ultrasound) to Treat Knee Osteoarthritis Pain

open access: yesJournal of Ultrasound in Medicine, EarlyView.
Low‐intensity focused ultrasound is a non‐invasive neuromodulation technique that delivers mechanical forces to a deep location within the body through acoustic pressure waves without affecting tissue between the transducer and focal target. Preliminary studies involving healthy volunteers suggest focused ultrasound reversibly prevents action potential

Preemptive Propofol Administration in Spinal Cord Injury: Effects on Pain‐Induced Hypertension, Neuroinflammation, and Functional Recovery in Rats

open access: yesThe Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Spinal cord injury (SCI) triggers secondary damage, including pain‐induced hypertension, inflammation, and hemorrhage, impairing recovery. This study evaluated the efficacy of general anesthesia with preemptive propofol administration in mitigating secondary damage in SCI rats. SCI was induced in rats using a contusion model.
