A high‐altitude thermal infrared method for estimating moose abundance and demography in Rocky Mountain National Park, USA

open access: yesWildlife Biology, EarlyView.
Resource managers require accurate estimates of large herbivore abundance and demography to maintain ecological integrity. Common methods to count these species, including observations from low altitude helicopter flights, may conflict with other protected area management objectives and struggle to produce precise estimates for more cryptic species. Nesting ecology of an ice‐associated seabird, Kittlitz's murrelet, at the northern edge of its range

open access: yesWildlife Society Bulletin, EarlyView.
We studied the Kittlitz's murrelet, an ice‐associated seabird of conservation concern, at the northern edge of its range. Over a 2‐year period, we estimated nest density and success at 2 sites, captured and telemetered nesting murrelets, and tested the use of a thermal camera to improve nest detection.

Evaluation of two candidate molecules—TCTP and cecropin—on the establishment of Trypanosoma brucei gambiense into the gut of Glossina palpalis gambiensis

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
This study investigates the potential of enhancing the resistance of Glossina palpalis gambiensis to Trypanosoma brucei gambiense to mitigate the transmission of Human African Trypanosomiasis. We successfully cloned genes encoding proteins of interest in Sodalis strains, resulting in recombinant Sodalis (recSodalis) that were micro‐injected into the L3
