Sestrin2 Mitigates Neuronal Ferroptosis Following Subarachnoid Hemorrhage via Orchestration of the AMPK/PGC1α/Nrf2 Signaling Axis

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 5, May 2026.
The schematic summarizes SESN2's neuroprotective actions after subarachnoid hemorrhage. SESN2 activates an AMPK/PGC1α/Nrf2 signaling cascade that reduces oxidative stress, suppresses neuronal ferroptosis, and improves functional outcomes; these effects were validated by genetic knockdown and pharmacologic inhibition.

Optimal Surgical Timing and Outcome Prediction in Hemorrhagic Moyamoya Disease: A Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 5, May 2026.
This cohort study developed and validated the first prognostic nomogram for hemorrhagic MMD, incorporating five independent predictors including a defined optimal surgical window of 3 to 6 months. The model demonstrated good discrimination and aids in risk stratification for clinical monitoring.

Prevention of stillbirths associated with umbilical cord abnormalities: A clinico‐pathological overview

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, Volume 173, Issue 2, Page 635-653, May 2026.
Abstract Stillbirths affect millions of pregnancies every year worldwide, and obstruction of the umbilical cord blood flow is one of the main causes of fetal death. This review provides a clinico‐pathological overview of cord abnormalities potentially associated with antepartum stillbirth, describing the mechanism determining the death and addressing ...

Suprapubic vesical catheter misplacement into ruptured iliac aneurysm

open access: yesAnnals of Vascular Surgery - Brief Reports and Innovations
Background: Isolated iliac aneurysms are difficult to diagnose. In this unique case report, we present an unusual incident in which the diagnostic for a ruptured iliac aneurysm was unexpectedly initiated through the misplacement of a suprapubic catheter.

Case Report of an Infectious Aortic Aneurysm Following Intravesical Bacillus Calmette‐Guérin Therapy After Transurethral Resection of a Bladder Tumor

open access: yesIJU Case Reports, Volume 9, Issue 3, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction Intravesical Bacillus Calmette‐Guérin (BCG) therapy is an established treatment for non‐muscle‐invasive bladder cancer. Although systemic BCG infection is rare, infectious aortic aneurysm is a potentially fatal complication.
