Pathogenesis of Dissecting Aneurysm [PDF]
A group of 35 cases of dissecting aneurysm was studied both clinically and pathologically, in order to evaluate the role of alterations in the aortic wall in the pathogenesis of dissecting aneurysm. It was concluded that the commonly observed dilatation and hypertension promoted the initial tear by increasing the tension on the intima of the aorta. The

Abstract Background Fibrillins provide a scaffold for elastic fiber formation, which enables lung recoil and aortic compliance. Abnormal fibrillin microfibrils, as in Marfan syndrome, lead to enlarged alveoli, vascular stiffening, and aneurysms. Our earlier studies suggested that fibrillin function depends on O‐glucosylation of its epidermal growth ...

Abstract Background The zebrafish heart regenerates upon injury. During injury response, fibroblasts and endothelial cells accumulate at the site of damage, and cardiomyocyte cell cycle reentry allows cardiac muscle regrowth. It is relevant to understand how the different cell types communicate with each other to coordinate regeneration.

Magneto‐responsive fibers and fabrics for soft systems
Abstract The combination of functional materials in fiber form has led to a surge in the integration of functional fibers and fabrics into soft systems that span sensing, communication, and actuation domains. A key subset is magnetic fibers and fabrics.

ABSTRACT It is estimated that a large proportion of drug candidates fail in human clinical trials, mainly because animal models cannot fully replicate human disease and because of differential responses to various medications between humans and animals.

The initial event of dissection of a cervico-cephalic artery is disruption of the intima and internal elastic lamina of the arterial wall, either by trauma or haemodynamic stress. Pulsatile arterial flow extends this tear longitudinally further into the media, even to subadventitial layer.

Thoracic aortic aneurysm (TAA) is a life‐threatening cardiovascular disease with limited therapeutic options. Through single‐cell RNA sequencing of aortic tissues from healthy individuals and TAA patients (105,541 cells), we identified CLEC5A+macrophages as the predominant pathogenic cell population exhibiting the highest M1 polarization score. Machine
