The Clinical Features, Risk Factors, and Outcome of Aneurysmal Lesions in Behcet’s Disease

open access: yesJournal of Immunology Research, 2019
Objective. To investigate the clinical features and potential risk factors of aneurysmal lesions in Behcet’s disease (BD). Methods. We retrospectively reviewed the clinical data of BD patients with aneurysmal lesions in our institute from 1997 to 2017 ...

Higher mean arterial pressure increases risk of in-hospital mortality in aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage

open access: yesUniversa Medicina, 2020
Background The majority (80%) of spontaneous subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) cases are caused by cerebral aneurysm rupture. The reported case fatality rate of aneurysmal SAH is still as high as 25 to 50%.

A 17 Year Old With Developmental Delay Presenting With Increasing Confusion and Imbalance

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Methylmalonic acidemia is an autosomal recessive genetic disorder primarily caused by defects in methylmalonyl‐CoA mutase and cobalamin (vitamin B12) metabolism. These defects disrupt the tricarboxylic acid cycle and oxidative phosphorylation, leading to the abnormal accumulation of metabolic products such as methylmalonic acid, propionic acid,

Integrating Time‐Adjusted Imaging Instability Into Functional Outcome Prediction After Intracerebral Hemorrhage: Development and Validation of the HAGIV Score

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Early risk stratification may support clinical decision‐making in spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). We aimed to develop and internally validate HAGIV, a score integrating frequency of imaging markers (FIM), a time‐adjusted non‐contrast computed tomography (CT) metric of hematoma expansion, with established predictors for 90‐

Retrograde transarterial closure of small aneurysmal perimembranous ventricular septal defects using the amplatzer duct occluder II: a single-center mid-term analysis

open access: yesFrontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine
BackgroundTranscatheter closure of aneurysmal perimembranous ventricular septal defects (pmVSDs) presents distinct anatomical challenges. While the retrograde transarterial approach using the Amplatzer Duct Occluder II (ADO II) has been described, data ...

Mandibular Aneurysmal Bone Cyst Associated with Cemento-Ossifying Fibroma – A Case Report [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research, 2013
Aneurysmal bone cyst is an uncommon bone lesion which rarely occurs in craniofacial region. Among all the cystic lesions occurring in the jaws, aneurysmal bone cyst is infrequent and it more commonly occurs in the mandible.

Translational Considerations for Injectable Biomaterials and Bioscaffolds to Repair and Regenerate Brain Tissue

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The repair and regeneration of brain tissue faces both biological and technical challenges. Injectable bioscaffolds offer new opportunities to stimulate tissue regrowth in the brain by recruiting neural stem cells. Here, the translational issues are reviewed that need to be address to advance this promising new therapeutic approach from the bench to ...

Medial Hypoxia and Adventitial Vasa Vasorum Remodeling in Human Ascending Aortic Aneurysm

open access: yesFrontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine, 2018
Human ascending aortic aneurysms characteristically exhibit cystic medial degeneration of the aortic wall encompassing elastin degeneration, proteoglycan accumulation and smooth muscle cell loss. Most studies have focused on the aortic media and there is

Additive Manufacturing of Patient‐Specific Intracranial Aneurysm Cell Culture Models

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Patient‐specific intracranial aneurysm models were fabricated using chocolate moulding, 3D printed water‐soluble cores, and direct resin 3D printing. Moulding PDMS around sacrificial cores made of chocolate or 3D printed water‐soluble resin yielded accurate, expandable, and endothelializable models that outperformed resin‐based approaches.
