Strategic Design of Soft Actuators in Translational Medical Robotics for Human‐Centered Healthcare

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Soft robotics enables biocompatible, compliant medical devices, but clinical translation requires design‐driven engineering beyond materials. This perspective reviews implantable, surgical, and wearable systems by actuation mechanism, highlighting how optimized architectures and integration improve mechanical interfacing, adaptability, and durability ...

Elective Open Suprarenal Aneurysm Repair in England from 2000 to 2010 an Observational Study of Hospital Episode Statistics

open access: yes, 2013
Background: Open surgery is widely used as a benchmark for the results of fenestrated endovascular repair of complex abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA).

CDK4/6 Inhibition Induces CD8+ T Cell Antitumor Immunity via MIF‐Induced Functional Orchestration of Tumor‐Associated Macrophages

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
CDK4/6 inhibition promotes CD8+ T cell expansion through tumor‐macrophage crosstalk by activating HIF‐1α and enhancing MIF‐CD44/CD74 signaling. This reprograms TAMs to boost MHC‐I antigen presentation, and CDK4/6 inhibitor‐trained M1 TAM supernatant therapy synergizes with low‐dose PD‐1 blockade to restore antitumor immunity.

Placement of an aortomonoiliac stent graft without femorofemoral revascularization in endovascular aneurysm repair: a case report

open access: yes, 2011
Introduction: Endovascular aortic repair, if technically feasible, is the treatment of choice for patients with a contained ruptured aortic aneurysm who are unfit for open surgery. Case presentation: We report the case of an 80-year-old Caucasian man who

Integrated Single‐Cell and Spatial Analysis Reveals a Metabolic‐Immune Axis Driving Aortic Dissection

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Single‐cell and spatial profiling of 110 human thoracic aortic samples reveals a stromal–immune circuit driving aortic dissection. An elastin‐rich fibroblast subset is depleted with age and markedly reduced in disease, weakening aortic wall integrity.

A Markov decision analysis model to aid the vascular surgeon in the management of a patient with an asymptomatic infra-renal abdominal aortic aneurysm [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Introduction Despite increasing evidence regarding the safety and efficacy of endovascular (EVAR) and open abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, it is often unclear which technique is most appropriate for an individual patient.

Vascular Abnormalities in Hypermobile Ehlers–Danlos Syndrome: A Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hypermobile Ehlers–Danlos syndrome (hEDS), while generally free from severe vascular complications, may occasionally present with cardiac and vascular abnormalities that warrant specific investigation. While studies have been conducted on the prevalence of cardiac involvement, none have focused on vascular aspects. This retrospective study was

Biomechanics of Aortic Dissection: A Comparison of Aortas Associated With Bicuspid and Tricuspid Aortic Valves

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease, 2020
Background Current methods for aortic dissection risk assessment are inadequate for patients with ascending aortic aneurysms associated with either bicuspid aortic valves (BAVs) or tricuspid aortic valves (TAVs).

Artificial intelligence in the diagnosis of thoracic aortic aneurysms in a retrospective chest computed tomography scan analysis

open access: yesDigital Diagnostics, 2023
BACKGROUND: Aortic aneurysms, known as silent killers, are frequently asymptomatic, leading to vessel rupture and death. Annual rates for ruptures, stratifications, and sudden deaths are up to 3.6%, 3.7%, and 10.8%, respectively.
