Sphingosine‐1‐Phosphate Receptor Modulators for the Treatment of Ulcerative Colitis: A Narrative Review Focusing on Safety

open access: yesUnited European Gastroenterology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Ulcerative colitis is a chronic immune‐mediated inflammatory disease of the colon that causes considerable morbidity and increases the risk of colorectal cancer. Several targeted therapies have been developed for moderate‐to‐severe ulcerative colitis, significantly improving its management.

Quercetin Reduces Vascular Senescence and Inflammation in Symptomatic Male but Not Female Coronary Artery Disease Patients

open access: yesAging Cell, EarlyView.
In male patients undergoing CABG surgery, pretreatment with quercetin suppressed inflammaging and its associated inflammation, leading to improved endothelium‐dependent relaxation (measured ex vivo) and reducing new onset of post‐operative atrial fibrillation.

Determination and Correlation of Anticardiolipin Antibody with High Sensitivity C- reactive Proteins and its Role in Predicting Short Term Outcome in Patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Anticardiolipin antibody (aCL) is considered to be an independent risk factor while high sensitivity C reactive protein (hsCRP) is an established marker for coronary artery disease. This study was conducted to determine levels of aCL antibodies and hsCRP,

Long‐term outcomes following alternative second‐line oral glucose‐lowering treatments: Results from the real‐world progression in type 2 diabetes mellitus United Kingdom (RAPIDS‐UK) model

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
Abstract Aims To compare long‐term complications for people with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) following second‐line treatment in routine practice with sulphonylureas (SU), dipeptidyl peptidase‐4 inhibitors (DPP4i), or sodium‐glucose co‐transporter‐2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) added to metformin.

Why, how and in whom should we measure levels of lipoprotein(a): A review of the latest evidence and clinical implications

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
Abstract Lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] is a genetically determined, causal risk factor for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) and calcific aortic valve disease (CAVD). Despite robust evidence from epidemiological and genetic studies, Lp(a) remains underrecognised in clinical practice due to challenges in measurement, lack of guideline familiarity ...

Unstable Angina Pectoris

open access: yes, 1988
The introduction of intravenously administered nitrate formulations such as intravenous nitroglycerin and intravenous isosorbide dinitrate has markedly improved the conservative therapy of unstable angina. These formulations, originally used only in coronary care units, are now used in general medical wards and emergencies rooms, without hemodynamic ...

Cardiac troponin at the point of care in acute and chronic coronary syndromes

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
Abstract High‐sensitivity cardiac troponin (hs‐cTn) assays are integral to the assessment of patients with acute chest pain where prompt and accurate diagnosis of myocardial infarction enables timely delivery of potentially life‐saving treatment. In the Emergency Department, implementation of central laboratory hs‐cTn assays has reduced length of stay ...

Tirzepatide and cardiometabolic parameters in obesity: Summary of current evidence

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
Abstract Globally, cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) account for around one‐third of all deaths. Clinical trial evidence suggests that treatment of people with obesity or type 2 diabetes (T2D) and CVD with glucagon‐like peptide‐1 (GLP‐1) receptor agonists reduces the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events, heart failure outcomes and all‐cause ...
