Progression of Furcation Involvement: A Multi‐Center Cohort Study of Incidence, Timing, and Risk Factors

In a multi‐center cohort of over 3900 patients with periodontitis, more than half experienced furcation progression, with a median time to the first event of 3.6 years. Smoking, diabetes, and overall periodontal health were significant predictors of progression. Critically, the initial furcation grade was the most powerful predictor of a tooth's future
