Postpartum myocardial infarction treated by balloon coronary angioplasty [PDF]

open access: possibleInternational Journal of Gynecology & Obstetrics, 1993
Acute myocardial infarction in pregnancy is a rare event that carries substantial morbidity and mortality. New technologies have been developed in cardiology to open obstructed vessels during the acute evolution of coronary thrombosis. We present a case of acute postpartum myocardial infarction in a woman with class F/R diabetes.

Coronary-Artery Stenting Compared with Balloon Angioplasty for Restenosis After Initial Balloon Angioplasty

Survey of Anesthesiology, 1998
Intracoronary stenting reduces the rate of restenosis after angioplasty in patients with new coronary lesions. We conducted a prospective, randomized, multicenter study to determine whether intracoronary stenting, as compared with standard balloon angioplasty, reduces the recurrence of luminal narrowing in restenotic lesions.A total of 383 patients who

Rotational coronary atherectomy after unsuccessful coronary balloon angioplasty

The American Journal of Cardiology, 1993
The clinical and angiographic outcome of patients undergoing rotational coronary atherectomy after unsuccessful balloon angioplasty was evaluated using quantitative angiographic methods to provide insight into this procedure's mechanism of benefit. During the study period, 41 patients (50 lesions) were referred for rotational atherectomy after standard

Coronary artery dissection caused by angioplasty balloon rupture.

Catheterization and Cardiovascular Diagnosis, 1990
Three cases of coronary angioplasty balloon rupture complicated by coronary artery dissection are described. Factors that may predispose to this previously undescribed and potentially devastating complication are discussed.

Comparison of coronary angioplasty with compliant and noncompliant balloons (the angioplasty compliance trial)

The American Journal of Cardiology, 1995
Abstract In conclusion, for conventional balloon angioplasty with compliant and noncompliant balloons, quantitative angiographic results, angiographic and clinical complications, and overall procedural outcome are similar.

Cutting balloon angioplasty for treatment of calcified coronary lesions

Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, 2001
AbstractThe aim of the study was to evaluate the feasibility, safety, and efficacy of cutting balloon angioplasty in treatment of angiographically moderate and severe calcified coronary lesions. Thirty‐seven calcified coronary lesions (29 patients) detected by angiography were dilated with cutting balloon. Predilatation with plain balloon was performed

In vivo delivery and long-term tissue retention of nano-encapsulated sirolimus using a novel porous balloon angioplasty system.

EuroIntervention, 2016
AIMS Among antirestenotic compounds, sirolimus displays a superior safety profile compared to paclitaxel, but its pharmacokinetic properties make it a challenging therapeutic candidate for single-time delivery.

Hugging balloons: Coronary angioplasty of oversized vessels with side‐by‐side balloons

Catheterization and Cardiovascular Diagnosis, 1988
AbstractAngioplasty of large (<4.0‐mm) saphenous vein grafts using the largest available (4.0‐mm) balloon catheters may result in inadequate graft dilatation. To avoid leaving a significant residual stenosis, two balloon catheters can be inflated side by side across the stenosis. Herein, we report two cases where this “hugging balloon” technique was

Cutting balloon angioplasty is superior to balloon angioplasty or stent implantation for small coronary artery disease

Coronary Artery Disease, 2004
The aim of this study is to demonstrate initial results and long-term outcomes of patients after receiving cutting balloon angioplasty (CBA), balloon angioplasty (BA), or stenting for small vessel diseases. We studied a total of 327 lesions of small coronary disease treated either by CBA (n=87), BA (n=130), or stenting (n=110) in two affiliated ...

Mechanisms of luminal enlargement and quantification of vessel wall trauma following balloon coronary angioplasty and directional atherectomy.

European Heart Journal, 1995
OBJECTIVES The purpose of this study was to assess the dual action of lumen enlargement and vessel wall damage following either balloon angioplasty or directional atherectomy, using intracoronary ultrasound, and angioscopy.
