The optimal treatment of multivessel coronary artery disease [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The practice of percutaneous coronary intervention has overtaken coronary bypass surgery in the treatment of ischaemic heart disease. Several randomized controlled as well as registry and observational trials have addressed the issue of patient selection

A comparison of immediate coronary angioplasty with intravenous streptokinase in acute myocardial infarction.

open access: yesNew England Journal of Medicine, 1993
BACKGROUND Despite the widespread use of intravenous thrombolytic therapy and of immediate percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty for the treatment of acute myocardial infarction, randomized comparisons of the two approaches to reperfusion are ...

Repeat coronary angioplasty

open access: yesJournal of the American College of Cardiology, 1984
The potential of repeat percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty as a mode of therapy for recurrence of stenosis after initially successful angioplasty was examined on the basis of data on all 514 patients with successful angioplasty at Emory University before April 1982. Recurrence was found in 171 (33%) of the 514 patients.

Comparing the Effect of Aromatherapy With Geranium and Lemon Essential Oil on Situational Anxiety and Physiological Indices of Patients After Coronary Angioplasty

open access: yesComplementary Medicine Journal of Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery, 2022
Objective: Postoperative anxiety, such as coronary artery bypass graft surgery, is one of the most common stressors in this group of patients, which can endanger their physical and mental health.

Effects of balloon injury on neointimal hyperplasia in steptozotocin-induced diabetes and in hyperinsulinemic nondiabetic pancreatic islet-transplanted rats. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
BACKGROUND: The mechanisms of increased neointimal hyperplasia after coronary interventions in diabetic patients are still unknown. METHODS AND RESULTS: Glucose and insulin effects on in vitro vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) proliferation and ...

Dislocation of a cerebral protection device component during carotid stenting: A case report of favorable outcome from conservative management after failure of retrieval [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
tINTRODUCTION: Cerebral-protection devices (CPDs) are a well-established system for reduction ofembolic risk in carotid artery angioplasty and stenting (CAS).

Balloon pulmonary angioplasty for chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension

open access: yesPostepy w kardiologii interwencyjnej = Advances in interventional cardiology, 2015
Chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) is a rare but potentially life-threatening disease of the pulmonary circulation [1]. The pathogenesis of CTEPH is not entirely clear.

Enhancing WRAP‐Based Nanoparticles for Small Interfering Ribonucleic Acid Delivery in pH‐Sensitive Environments

open access: yesChemMedChem, EarlyView.
PEGylation of the WRAP5‐based nanoparticles via acyl hydrazone linkers is achieved to obtain a pH‐sensitive small interfering ribonucleic acid‐targeted delivery. In acidic extracellular conditions (pH 5) occurring during myocardial ischemia‐reperfusion injury, this optimized delivery system is the only one showing efficient silence of the Fas ...

Bindarit inhibits human coronary artery smooth muscle cell proliferation, migration and phenotypic switching [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Bindarit, a selective inhibitor of monocyte chemotactic proteins (MCPs) synthesis, reduces neointimal formation in animal models of vascular injury and recently has been shown to inhibit in-stent late loss in a placebo-controlled phase II clinical trial.
