CONVERSION OF ANGIOTENSIN I TO ANGIOTENSIN II IN SHEEP
Clinical and Experimental Pharmacology and Physiology, 1978SUMMARY1. The methodology for measurement of angiotensin I in whole blood is described.2. Angiotensin I was measured in arterial and venous blood samples from sodium‐loaded, sodium‐replete and sodium‐depleted sheep. Venous blood concentrations were higher than arterial angiotensin I concentrations.

Effect of angiotensin II infusion on glomerular angiotensin II receptor in rats
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Molecular Cell Research, 1986Previous studies by other investigators have shown that sodium depletion causes down-regulation of angiotensin II receptors in renal glomeruli, which is ascribed to elevation of circulating angiotensin II levels. The present study was designed to determine whether elevation of circulating angiotensin II levels alone can down-regulate its own receptors ...

Effect of angiotensin II and an angiotensin II inhibitor on renin secretion in the dog
American Journal of Physiology-Legacy Content, 1975This study examined the effect of angiotensin II (AII) and (Sar-1Gly-8) AII, a competitive inhibitor of AII, on renin release in anesthetized dogs. An intravenous infusion of AII (25 ng/kg per min) raised BP 24 mmHg and lowered plasma renin activity (PRA) from 18.8 plus or minus 2.8 to 6.2 plus or minus 1. 3 ng/ml per h (P smaller than .001). When the

Nitric oxide–angiotensin II interactions in angiotensin II‐dependent hypertension
Acta Physiologica Scandinavica, 2000Many studies indicate that renal haemodynamic function in angiotensin II‐ (ANG II) dependent hypertension is not reduced as much as would be predicted from the elevated ANG II levels suggesting that counteracting renoprotective mechanisms are activated. One important renoprotective effect is mediated by increased levels of nitric oxide.

Contribution of angiotensin II internalization to intrarenal angiotensin II levels in rats
American Journal of Physiology-Renal Physiology, 2002This study was designed to determine the involvement of AT1receptors in the uptake of ANG II in the kidney of rats exposed to differing salt intake. Male Wistar-Kyoto rats were treated with a normal-salt (NS; 1% NaCl, n = 7) or a low-salt (LS; 0.025% NaCl, n = 7) diet combined with (LS+Los, n = 7; NS+Los, n = 7) or without losartan (30 mg · kg−1· day−1)

Renal Accumulation of Circulating Angiotensin II in Angiotensin II–Infused Rats
Hypertension, 1996Abstract Previous studies have demonstrated that low-dose angiotensin II (Ang II) infusion for 14 days mimics two-kidney, one clip Goldblatt hypertension and increases intrarenal Ang II levels. The objective of the present study was to determine whether the augmented intrarenal Ang II is due to intrarenal accumulation of the ...

Augmentation of intrarenal angiotensin II levels by chronic angiotensin II infusion
American Journal of Physiology-Renal Physiology, 1994The objective of this study was to investigate the singular role of elevated angiotensin II (ANG II) levels in the development of two-kidney, one-clip (2K1C) Goldblatt hypertension in the rat and specifically in the altered intrarenal ANG II levels that occur in the nonclipped kidney. As a substitute for the clipped kidney, chronic delivery of ANG II (

RADIOIMMUNOASSAY OF ANGIOTENSIN II IN PLASMA
Acta Endocrinologica, 1969ABSTRACT Specific antibodies were produced in rabbits with val5angiotensin II amid (Hypertensin®, Ciba) attached to succinyl-poly-l-lysine. Hypertensin was labelled with iodine-125 (125I) according to a modified Hunter-Greenwood procedure.

Angiotensin II and aldosterone produce pro-arrhythmic effects by several mechanisms, including the modulation of voltage-dependent K(+) channels involved in human cardiac repolarization. Drugs that inhibit the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system exert anti-arrhythmic actions that are related to the blockade of the pro-arrhythmic actions of angiotensin

Conformational study of angiotensin II
Biopolymers, 1996Conformational free energy calculations using an empirical potential ECEPP/3 (Empirical Conformational Energy Program for Peptides, Version 3) were carried out on angiotensin II (AII) of sequence Asp-Arg-Val-Tyr-Ile-His-Pro-Phe to find the stable conformations of the free state in the unhydrated and the hydrated states. A conformational analysis of the
