On the security of Angle of Arrival estimation

2016 IEEE Conference on Communications and Network Security (CNS), 2016
Angle of Arrival (AoA) estimation has found its way to a wide range of applications. Much attention has been paid to study different techniques for AoA estimation and its applications for jamming suppression, however, security vulnerability issues of AoA estimation itself under hostile activity have not been paid the same attention.

Estimation of angles-of-arrival for wideband sources

ICASSP '84. IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2005
High resolution direction of arrival estimation for multiple wideband sources is discussed in this paper. The proposed method involves two steps. Preliminary estimates of the angles are obtained via an eigendecomposition method such as MUSIC for several non-overlapping bands of frequency.

Estimation of angles of arrivals of broadband signals

ICASSP '87. IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2005
A high resolution one-step algorithm for estimating the angles of arrivals of multiple wideband sources is proposed. For a dense and equally spaced array structure, a bilinear transformation is utilized in frequency domain for coherent signal subspace processing.

A unitary transformation method for angle-of-arrival estimation

IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 1991
Eigenstructure methods for estimating angles of arrival of radiation sources generally require complex computations in computing eigencomponents of the covariance matrix and calculating the search function. A unitary transformation method that transforms the complex covariance matrix of an equally spaced linear array, which is Hermitian persymmetric ...

Angle-of-arrival estimation in atmospheric turbulence

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2005
An angle-of-arrival estimator is derived for acoustic waves that propagate in atmospheric turbulence. The estimator directly accounts for the effects of random fluctuations in the propagation environment. The first and second moments of the sound field, as derived from the theory of wave propagation in a random medium, and realistic atmospheric ...

An experimental angle of arrival estimation system

[1991] Conference Record of the Twenty-Fifth Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems & Computers, 2002
The authors describe an experimental hardware system used to estimate the angles of arrival of multiple cochannel emitters. The system consists of a four-element phased array antenna and a personal computer housing four coherentized digital receivers.

Angle of arrival estimation of on-body channels

2nd European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP 2007), 2007
Angle of arrival (AoA) estimation has been performed on five on-body channels, namely belt-to-chest, belt-to-wrist, belt-to-ankle, belt-to-head and belt-to-back. The transmitter was always placed on the belt whilst the receiver was located on the points mentioned above. A quarter wavelength monopole and a switched beam array were used, respectively, as

An alternative approach for angle of arrival estimation

The 8th European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP 2014), 2014
The Multiple Signals Classification (MUSIC) algorithm is the most popular algorithm for estimating the Angle of Arrival (AOA) of the received signals. This algorithm is based on the calculation of thermal noise Eigenvalues and the corresponding Eigen vectors. All researches in this field assumed isotropic sensors to form the array antennas.

ESPRIT Angles-of-Arrival Estimation with Missing Sensor Data

2019 27th European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO), 2019
This paper describes a procedure for Angles-of-Arrival (AoA) estimation for a uniform linear array (ULA) with missing sensors. The novelty of the approach is that, rather than using AoA estimates obtained from contiguous subarrays, we use estimates for the corresponding signal subspaces.

Online angle of arrival estimation in the presence of mutual coupling

2016 IEEE Statistical Signal Processing Workshop (SSP), 2016
A novel algorithm for estimating the Angles of Arrival (AoA) of multiple sources in the presence of mutual coupling is derived. We first formulate an “Equality Constrained Quadratic Optimisation” problem, then derive a suitable MUSIC-like algorithm to solve the aforementioned problem, and thus obtain good estimates of the AoA parameters ...
