An experimental angle of arrival estimation system

[1991] Conference Record of the Twenty-Fifth Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems & Computers, 2002
The authors describe an experimental hardware system used to estimate the angles of arrival of multiple cochannel emitters. The system consists of a four-element phased array antenna and a personal computer housing four coherentized digital receivers.

Improved Angle-of-Arrival Estimation of Narrow Gaussian Beams for Mobile FSO Platforms

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems
Due to the narrow beamwidths of laser Gaussian beams, accurate tracking of laser beam’s angle-of-arrival is an important problem in mobile free-space optical communications.

An alternative approach for angle of arrival estimation

The 8th European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP 2014), 2014
The Multiple Signals Classification (MUSIC) algorithm is the most popular algorithm for estimating the Angle of Arrival (AOA) of the received signals. This algorithm is based on the calculation of thermal noise Eigenvalues and the corresponding Eigen vectors. All researches in this field assumed isotropic sensors to form the array antennas.

ESPRIT Angles-of-Arrival Estimation with Missing Sensor Data

2019 27th European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO), 2019
This paper describes a procedure for Angles-of-Arrival (AoA) estimation for a uniform linear array (ULA) with missing sensors. The novelty of the approach is that, rather than using AoA estimates obtained from contiguous subarrays, we use estimates for the corresponding signal subspaces.

Enhancement of angle of arrival estimation by sparse deconvolution algorithm

2013 IEEE 24th Annual International Symposium on Personal, Indoor, and Mobile Radio Communications (PIMRC), 2013
Ray tracing is a technique often used to model indoor and outdoor environments. In order to improve the parameters used in ray tracing, measurements from channel sounding can be employed to test algorithms and build more accurate models of the channel.

Cluster Angle-of-Arrival Estimation for UWB Indoor System

IEICE Transactions on Communications, 2005
In this study, the new signal model suitable for ultrawide band (UWB) indoor environments with random angle spread is proposed to estimate the angle-of-arrivals (AOAs) of clusters in a UWB wireless communication. The subspace based estimation technique adopted for this model is investigated and the estimates of the AOA and distribution parameter on the

Angle of Arrival Estimation for Saturated Acoustic Signals

2013
Abstract : The U.S. Army Research Laboratory (ARL) has developed a tetrahedral microphone array system for acoustic-based target detection and localization. Time-domain data can be used to obtain differential time of arrival (DTOA) and angle of arrival (AOA) estimates. Use of multiple arrays allows for triangulation.
