The mantis shrimp telson reveals how ridged biological shields control deformation under impact. Inspired by this architecture, telson‐inspired ridged curved shells transform ridge geometry and macroscopic curvature into bidirectional snap‐through, tunable stiffness, and enhanced hysteretic energy dissipation for multifunctional architected materials ...

Mask‐encoded UV exposure translates digital color information into pixel‐resolved structural‐color patterns in hydroxypropyl cellulose gels. Gaussian‐process‐guided calibration links UV processing conditions, wavelength, and mask opacity, enabling parallel fabrication of multicolor images in a single 10 s exposure.

Current‐Driven Chirality Detection of Magnetic Textures in Cylindrical Nanowires
Current‐assisted anisotropic magnetoresistance measurements in individual Ni/Au cylindrical nanowires enable detection of vortex chirality near Au segments and selective magnetic reversal in defined wire sections at magnetic fields lower than the propagation field. This approach provides a simple, cost‐effective, and non‐invasive method for probing and

Description: Indium metal serves as a reversible calcium‐alloying negative electrode. By transitioning from planar electrodes to powders and (sub‐)micron indium particles, the specific surface area is increased, improving the areal capacity density and cycling stability for calcium‐based batteries.

On the security of Angle of Arrival estimation
2016 IEEE Conference on Communications and Network Security (CNS), 2016Angle of Arrival (AoA) estimation has found its way to a wide range of applications. Much attention has been paid to study different techniques for AoA estimation and its applications for jamming suppression, however, security vulnerability issues of AoA estimation itself under hostile activity have not been paid the same attention.

Robust rotation angle estimator
IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, 1999The conventional method of estimating the rotation angle of a pattern using the principal axes is not suitable for circular symmetric patterns since their eigenvalues are similar in both directions. In the paper, a robust method of estimating a rotation angle using the phase information of Zernike moments is presented.

In a study designed to test the adequacy of a long-held belief that acute angles are overestimated and obtuse angles underestimated, 20 adult Ss reproduced acute and obtuse angle sizes. The findings challenge this traditional view of angle estimation.

Estimation of angles-of-arrival for wideband sources
ICASSP '84. IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2005High resolution direction of arrival estimation for multiple wideband sources is discussed in this paper. The proposed method involves two steps. Preliminary estimates of the angles are obtained via an eigendecomposition method such as MUSIC for several non-overlapping bands of frequency.

Estimation of Perpendicularity and Laying of Right Angles
Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1966As part of a larger field study, 10 Ss estimated the perpendicularity of a flat wire to an undefined road edge, a string to a flat wire, and the flat wire angularly bent. Differences were found between estimations made without a definite baseline ( M angle = 97.9°) and estimations made with a
