Tire Slip Angle Estimation Based on the Intelligent Tire Technology [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2020
Tire slip angle is a vital parameter in tire/vehicle dynamics and control. This paper proposes an accurate estimation method by the fusion of intelligent tire technology and machine-learning techniques.

Quantification of Finger-Tapping Angle Based on Wearable Sensors

open access: yesSensors, 2017
We propose a novel simple method for quantitative and qualitative finger-tapping assessment based on miniature inertial sensors (3D gyroscopes) placed on the thumb and index-finger.

Fast Angle Estimation in MIMO System With Direction-Dependent Mutual Coupling

open access: yesIEEE Communications Letters, 2021
Ideal sensor response is always desirable in multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system. In practical application, however, sensors may be susceptible to unknown mutual coupling (MC), which seriously decreases the angle estimation accuracy. This letter

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Deep Multi-Scale Fusion of Convolutional Neural Networks for EMG-Based Movement Estimation

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Neural Systems and Rehabilitation Engineering, 2022
EMG-based motion estimation is required for applications such as myoelectric control, where the simultaneous estimation of kinematic information, namely joint angle and velocity, is challenging and critical.

Estimating a Shooting Angle in Ear Recognition [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
To improve on our earlier work on single-view-based ear biometrics, an estimation method is presented for the shooting angle of an ear image based on the summation of similarity scores over a threshold within a database of known shooting angles. Experimental results indicate that the estimation method can improve the robustness of ear recognition in ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...
