Indoor Angle of Arrival positioning using biased estimation
2009 7th IEEE International Conference on Industrial Informatics, 2009We consider the problem of estimating the position of an indoor wireless transmitter. Based on Angle of Arrival (AOA) readings from several base stations, a wireless transmitter's position has traditionally been determined using a least-squares approach. In particular, care is taken to ensure that the least-squares estimator is unbiased.

Angle of Arrival Estimation for Saturated Acoustic Signals
2013Abstract : The U.S. Army Research Laboratory (ARL) has developed a tetrahedral microphone array system for acoustic-based target detection and localization. Time-domain data can be used to obtain differential time of arrival (DTOA) and angle of arrival (AOA) estimates. Use of multiple arrays allows for triangulation.

Angle of arrival estimation based on interferometer principle
IEEE International Symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing, 2003, 2004The angle of arrival estimation problem based on interferometer principle has great accuracy in the angle of arrival estimation. To increase the accuracy there are two main ways. In the first one we add more antennas to the configuration, hence we get more measurement data, but it means that the physical configuration has to be changed.

An alternative approach for angle of arrival estimation
The 8th European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP 2014), 2014The Multiple Signals Classification (MUSIC) algorithm is the most popular algorithm for estimating the Angle of Arrival (AOA) of the received signals. This algorithm is based on the calculation of thermal noise Eigenvalues and the corresponding Eigen vectors. All researches in this field assumed isotropic sensors to form the array antennas.

Angle-of-arrival estimation: Beamformer-based smart antennas
2008 3rd IEEE Conference on Industrial Electronics and Applications, 2008In this paper, we addressed the issue of estimating the angle-of-arrival using the beamformer-based smart antennas. In general wireless communication system, it was apparent that even for one source there are many possible propagation paths and angles of arrival. If several transmitters are operating simultaneously, each source potentially creates many

Angle of arrival estimation using MIMO array antenna
2013 MTS/IEEE OCEANS - Bergen, 2013Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar has received increasing attention in recent years. MIMO radar has many advantages over conventional phased array radar such as target detection, resolution enhancement, and interference and jamming suppression.

Estimating the Angles of Arrival of Multiple Plane Waves
IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems, 1983The problem of estimating the angles of arrival of M plane waves incident simultaneously on a line array with L + 1 (L?M) sensors utilizing the special eigenstructure of the covariance matrix C of the signal plus noise at the output of the array is addressed. A polynomial D(z) with special properties is constructed from the eigenvectors of C, the zeros

Estimation of angles of arrivals of multiple wideband sources
Antennas and Propagation Society Symposium 1991 Digest, 2002The authors have developed a data transformation matrix for the estimation of directions of arrival for multiple wideband sources when prior information about the source locations is not available. The proposed focusing matrix minimizes the average of the squared norm of focusing error over the angles of interest without prior knowledge of source ...

Error estimation in angle of arrival in smart antenna
2011 International Conference on Information and Communication Technologies, 2011Rapidly growing demand in mobile communication system required technology which will provide minimum errors and maximize SNR in a particular angle/direction. Smart antenna has a system for directed a beam towards desired angle/direction and suppress/cancel interference from undesired angle/direction.

Real Time Angle of Arrival Estimation for GSM Signals
IEEE/ACES International Conference on Wireless Communications and Applied Computational Electromagnetics, 2005., 2005An FPGA design was created to estimate the angles of arrival for GSM wireless signals in real time. Signals are received using a four element uniform linear array. A wideband IF is undersampled and individual RF channels are tuned digitally. Initially the Blackman-Tukey approach was considered, but ultimately a less complex approach was chosen since it
