High Angle of Attack Velocity Vector Rolls

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1994
Abstract This paper presents the design of a flight control system for performing the velocity vector roll maneuver at high angles of attack. A six degree of freedom model is developed, and the multiple-input multiple-output Quantitative Feedback Theory (QFT) robust control design method is used to treat both the inherent system nonlinearities and ...

High Angle of Attack Aerodynamics

Journal of Atmospheric and Terrestrial Physics, 1992
This is a presentation of the methods and results applicable to the study of the complex aerodynamics of a high angle of attack on the part of fighter aircraft. The book contains reference information relevant to three-dimensional separation on viscous flow.

Angle of Attack

Science, 2012
Chemistry In qualitative terms, chemists have become adept at predicting how reaction probabilities depend on the relative dispositions of two colliding reagents. For instance, if a reactive site is bounded by a large fragment and a small one, the collision partner is more likely to make it past the small one.

Low Cost Accurate Angle of Attack System

55th AIAA Aerospace Sciences Meeting, 2017
A low-cost ($100) differential pressure-based commercial off-the-shelf angle-of-attack data acquisition system was designed, successfully reduced to practice, and wind-tunnel and flight tested.

The angle of attack

IEEE Instrumentation & Measurement Magazine, 2001
The author considers the angle-of-attack compensator and the static pressure sensor. A true angle of attack is required to correct static and dynamic pressures. Static pressure is necessary to calculate altitude. Dynamic pressure is necessary to calculate speed. Sensing the angle of attack is crucial to correcting all sensed parameters.

Correction of sonic anemometer angle of attack errors

Agricultural and Forest Meteorology, 2006
An improved method of correcting for the angle of attack error resulting from the imperfect (co)sine response of ultrasonic anemometers is proposed. The angle of attack, which was calculated as the arctangent of observed wind vectors, contains the angle of attack errors in the vectors themselves, and hence this angle was 'false'.
