For the first time, the spreading of a fearsome non-native parasite nematode Anguillicoloïdes crassus is studied in European Eel Anguilla anguilla in 4 different coastal ecosystems throughout 12 years. We found that the parasite become more abundant with time in each study site; only 4.8% of eels inhabited brackish water (Mellah Lagoon) are infected ...

Complete mitochondrial genome of Anguilla japonica (Anguilliformes, Anguillidae)
Mitochondrial DNA Part A, 2014The complete mitochondrial genome of Anguilla japonica have been determined in this study. The gene composition, arrangement and transcriptional orientation in A. japonica mitogenome were identical to those of most vertebrates. The complete mitogenome of A.

Ultrastructure of the spermatozoa and spermiogenesis in New Zealand freshwater eels (Anguillidae)
Cell and Tissue Research, 1976The spermiogenesis and sperm ultrastructure of Anguilla australis schmidtii and A. dieffenbachii is described. During spermiogenesis the chromatin material condenses into the crescent-shaped head of the mature sperm. By elongation of the sperm head the mitochondrion is displaced to the anterior of the head remote from the posterior centriolar apparatus.

DNA barcoding of Philippine freshwater eels of families Anguillidae and Synbranchidae
Philippine Journal of Systematic Biology, 2022The study used morphological and genetic approach for the DNA barcoding analysis of the inter- and intra-species relationships among catadromous Philippine freshwater eels. Past DNA barcoding studies on Philippine anguillid eels came from Northern Luzon.
