Estimation of body frame components of angular velocity and angular acceleration of a projectile undergoing general three-dimensional motion using linear acceleration measurements is considered. For the case where triaxial components of linear acceleration are known at three noncolinear points, the kinematic equations must in general be transformed to ...

Is There Nystagmus Habituation to Angular Acceleration in Man?
Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery, 198210 healthy volunteers, ranging in age from 20 to 30 years, were subjected to rotatory stimulation at 1°, 2° and 4°/s2 acceleration and deceleration, repeated four times at weekly intervals. Nystagmus was recorded with electronystagmography. Slowphase velocity and the total numbers of nystagmic spikes were analyzed.

Adaptation to Prolonged Constant Angular Acceleration
Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 1969Two independent groups of normal human subjects were exposed to a number of long-duration (up to 96 sec), relatively high-intensity (3d`/ sec2-24d`/sec2), constant, angular accelerations. Nystagmic decrements during stimulation were clearly evident.

Angular Velocity and Centripetal Acceleration Relationship
The Physics Teacher, 2014During the last few years, the growing boom of smartphones has given rise to a considerable number of applications exploiting the functionality of the sensors incorporated in these devices. A sector that has unexpectedly taken advantage of the power of these tools is physics teaching, as reflected in several recent papers.1–10 In effect, the use of ...

Ring interferometer with angular acceleration
Physical Review A, 1995The phase and frequency shifts in a Sagnac interferometer of arbitrary geometry with angular acceleration are calculated. A resonant cavity with angular acceleration is shown to display optical ringing. This phenomenon provides a direct test of electromagnetic wave propagation through a time-dependent spacetime metric.

Angular accelerating white light
SPIE Proceedings, 2015Significant interest has been devoted to tailoring optical fields that transversely accelerate during propagation in the form of Airy, Weber and Mathieu beams. In this work, we introduce a new type of optical field that exhibits controlled angular acceleration during propagation which is achieved by superpositions of Bessel beams with non-canonical ...

Piezoelectric angular acceleration sensor
IEEE Symposium on Ultrasonics, 2003, 2004This paper deals with a piezoelectric angular acceleration sensor, which might be proposed by us, first, as a new concept of the sensor to detect a rotational motion only. In the first part of this paper are dealt with some concrete constructions of this new concept of angular acceleration sensor, composed of piezoelectric transducers.

Measurement of Angular Acceleration
2017Angular acceleration was implicated as a cause of brain injury, beginning with the theory by Holbourn (1943) and the extensive research conducted by Ommaya and Hirsch (1971), Ommaya et al. (1967), and Gennarelli et al. (1982). The concept of angular acceleration was proposed by Sir Isaac Newton in the 1680s (Newton’s Principia) where he laid down the ...

The threshold of perception of angular acceleration as a function of duration
Biological Cybernetics, 1981The threshold for rotation about the yaw axis was determined for constant acceleration stimuli as a function of their duration in the range from 3 to 25 s. From the torsion-swing model the following theoretical equation can be derived: alpha thr = C/[1--exp(-ts/tau 1)], where alpha thr = acceleration amplitude at threshold, ts = duration of the ...
