Thermo-mechanical analysis of angular contact ball bearing
Journal of Mechanical Science and Technology, 2016The thermal-mechanical character, which is difficult to ensure because of the lack of a corresponding theory and tool, has a significant effect on the dynamics of bearings. It even leads to a sudden failure of bearings in a working situation. In this research, a thermal deformation model was established, based on the analysis of temperature effect on ...

Angular-Contact Ball Bearing Optimization Study.
1995Abstract : Ongoing studies have indicated that advanced engines will be required to operate at higher temperatures and increased rotor speeds. The object of this project was to find the optimum internal geometry for a high speed, hybrid thrust bearing, which produces minimum heat generation.

Ball Contact Locus in an Angular Contact Bearing
Journal of Lubrication Technology, 1983The path of contact on the surface of a bearing ball is derived for pure spin and regular precession. Ball-race and ball-ball contacts are considered in a retainerless bearing. Track broadening and equatorial offset are found; quantitative experimental agreement is shown.

Angular contact ball bearing experimental spall propagation observations
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part J: Journal of Engineering Tribology, 2014Modern applications require bearings to survive in severe environments or when subjected to extreme loads and speeds. Some application designs require that a damaged bearing survives a specified duration. In particular, a clearer understanding of spall propagation in bearings may help design engineers prevent rapid damage propagation events and ...

Multi-Body Contact Dynamics Analysis of Angular Contact Ball Bearing
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013The 3-D multi-body contact dynamics simulation model was built by ADAMS base on the Hertz contact theory and multi-body contact dynamics, which considered the dynamics relationship among the ball, ring and cage of the bearing. Considering the clearancesfrictions and loads, results that contained deformation and displacement of the bearing, trajectory ...

Ball Motion Perturbation in an Angular-Contact Ball Bearing
A S L E Transactions, 1982Spectral analysis of changes in the angular velocity vector of a bearing ball can be used to follow changes in ball-lubricant-race coupling in starved operation. Simultaneous measurements of basic speed ratio confirm the changes up to and through a lubricant breakdown failure. Presented at the 36th Annual Meeting in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, May 11–14,

Fatigue Life Analysis for Angular Contact Ball Bearing with Angular Misalignment
Journal of the Korean Society for Precision Engineering, 2016Angular misalignment has a significant effect on the characteristics of angular contact ball bearings (ACBBs). This paper presents an analysis of fatigue life for ACBBs subjected to angular misalignment. A simulation model is developed with de Mul’s bearing model and the ISO basic reference rating life model.

Motion of Unbalanced Balls in High-Speed Angular Contact Ball Bearings
Journal of Tribology, 1990This paper reports on an experimental study of the three-dimensional ball motion of an unbalanced ball in a 50-mm bore angular contact ball bearing operating at high speeds under axial loads. One bearing ball, which was unbalanced by making a small hole in it, was magnetized and the motion of the ball was determined using Hall-elements. The bearing was

Motion of a Ball in Angular-Contact Ball Bearing
A S L E Transactions, 1965The author carried out an experimental investigation on the motion of a ball in an angular-contact ball bearing under thrust load by measuring change in magnetic flux induced by a magnetized ball. The observed data of the angular velocity of the ball and that of the cage were adequate for analyzing the kinematical condition in the bearing.
